Theme: True Worshipper and True Worship
Text: Genesis 22:1-19
Preacher :Pastor Paulo
1. God Tests Us To See What Is In Our Heart - Deut 8:2
Just like God tested Abraham, He will test us. There are no exceptions.
In the desert God led Israel to test them: _“to see if you would keep His commands.”_
Our relationship with Jesus is not based on feelings or our will. *It is based on His Word.*
If we do not put His Word into practice, there is no real relationship with Him.
God decides what the sacrifice is. God decides where the sacrifice is.
Worship is not about my will. It’s about his will, because He knows what is best for us.
The children of God are those led by the Spirit of God.
So as His child, trust the decision of the Father.
2. True Faith Is Immediate Obedience - Genesis 22:3, Hebrews 11:6
“Early in the morning Abraham got up...”
Faith is in a hurry.
Unbelief always takes time.
Faith knows there is a reward. “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrew 11:6
What is faith made of? Belief + Obedience.
Demons believe and tremble. But if you believe and do not obey, it is not faith.
Abraham is called the Father of Faith.
Our faith should be our reference.
The faith you have reveals the Father you have.
3. True Worship Says: “I Don’t Know, But God Knows” - Genesis 22:5, 8
Abraham told his servants: “We will worship and then we will come back to you.”
He didn’t know how, but he knew the One he was following.
From Beersheba to Mount Moriah was 90km+. A 3-day walk.
He didn’t wait. He obeyed immediately.
Faith speaks.
What you speak reflects what you believe.
Job said: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
Job 19:26
The woman with the issue of blood said: “If I just touch His garment...”
True worshippers speak faith even in the test.
4. Your Best Is Not Good Enough - God Provides The Lamb - Genesis 22:13-14
God stopped Abraham. “Do not lay a hand on the boy.”
Isaac’s life was not enough to save.
The true, sufficient sacrifice is Jesus.
John 1:29 _“Behold, the Lamb of God.”_
God doesn’t want your performance. He wants you to express Jesus, your dependence on Jesus.
When Abraham obeyed, God said:
“Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies.”Genesis 22:17
The Word of God put into practice in us is what makes our lives good.
5. The Mark Of A True Worshipper
A true worshipper:
1. Is led by the Spirit - not by personal will or culture
2. Obeys immediately - no delays, no excuses
3. Speaks faith - even when they don’t understand
4. Trusts God’s provision - God sees and God provides Jehovah Jireh
Genesis 22:12 “Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld your son.”
There is no faith without obedience. There is no worship without sacrifice.
APPLICATION:
God is establishing what He wants. You don’t choose the sacrifice.
The test is to see: Will you put His Word into practice?
I don’t know how it will work out...
But I know the One I am following. And He knows.
Because of one man’s obedience, a nation was blessed.
Because of Jesus’ obedience, the world was saved.
Let us be true worshippers whose life is: Belief + Obedience = Faith.
Amen.
