Our prayers are with families who lost their members in the ongoing heatwave across Karachi. We ask Allah to forgive those who left this world during this blessed month and have mercy on those still living.
Please remember that Islam is the middle path and does not want to cause you destruction. If you fear that the continuation of your fast may lead to your death, please break your fast and make it up later.
“If a person is overtaken by intense hunger or unbearable thirst, then he should break his fast and eat just as much as he needs to ward off that hunger, then he should refrain from eating for the rest of the day, and make up that fast later on.” (Al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah, vol. 28, p. 73.)
Many of us experience this blessed month during hot summer days. Please remember to drink enough water during the evening and at least two glasses of water during suhoor, keep yourselves cool during the day as much as possible, stay in shade, and close curtains to keep your homes cooler. May Allah grant us ease, forgive us our sins, and accept our fast. Ameen. Dr- Bilal Philips
