Life’s race is not about speed but endurance. The writer of Hebrews reminds us to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that entangles, fixing our eyes on Jesus—the One who endured the cross and never gave up. When the journey gets difficult, Christ remains as our perfect example and our greatest source of strength.

Join us at ACTS Church as we continue our series “Hebrews: Christ Is Better” and discover how to run with perseverance and stand firm in faith based on Hebrews 12:1–3.

and that the Lord may keep his promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’

David, on his deathbed, gave his charge to Solomon, reminding him that God had promised the throne of Israel would remain within his bloodline. However, this promise was conditional. Its fulfillment hinged on whether David’s descendants would conduct themselves carefully and live faithfully before the LORD.

In the same way, there are promises in the Bible concerning prayer that may also be considered conditional in nature. Jesus declared:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

”Believers are encouraged to ask, seek, and knock, and to trust that God will respond. However, this promise is further clarified by 1 John 5:14, which states:

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
