We are busy gathering together props and costumes for this year’s Vacation Bible School. Are you a talented painter? A sewist? Good with a hot glue gun or a roll of sticky tape? We need you!

Every year, an important element of VBS is the Bible Adventures station where the children come once a day to watch the team there act out the Bible story of the day. Having wonderful scenery and great costumes makes this an even better experience for the children.
Please contact Emma Portier via ChurchSuite if you can help a little bit or a lot. Every pair of hands is welcome.

VBS is a five-day holiday camp where kids aged 5 to 11 enjoy a fun-filled week of learning about God’s great love for each and every one of us.

It’s Pentecost. The promise is kept. God is true to His word. ‘Power from on high’ comes among his disciples, from outside of them, on each of them separately, but together.

‘They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.’ [Acts 2:1-4]

What difference do you long the Spirit would bring to you? Would bring to the church? Pray, pray, pray that this day our loving God will pour His Spirit out in super-abundance upon us all. That we might do one thing above else – be effective witnesses to Jesus the Saviour of the world. For the sake of your five, pray for yourself, for the church, for your friends, ‘Come Holy Spirit.

In the second letter to Timothy we hear how his sincere faith was nurtured and grew through the inspiration of his mother and grandmother. We can be the means by which the Spirit cascades through the generations. With each of us more ready to give than to receive.
Imagine how belonging to a community of all generations could remake your five friends. On this penultimate day of Thy Kingdom Come, pray that God might touch their lives through His multi-aged body.

In Acts 8, Philip is led by the Holy Spirit to the chariot of an important Ethiopian official. As a result of Philip listening and responding to the Holy Spirit, the official comes to faith. Ethiopians trace the origins of their long-standing Christian faith back to this man. In these days we pray the gift of the Holy Spirit to us will be the gift of sight, hearing, stirring and imagining to perceive where God is leading us. And especially with the five particular friends we are praying for.

Jesus announces this Kingdom and opens it to all He meets. And the only power, and the sole strength that enables Him to do this is the Holy Spirit. God isn’t simply close to us in prayer and worship, when we share bread and wine and wait in silence on Him. Instead, God is present as we announce and engage in the work of the Kingdom.

Every year we join with the International Baptist Church which hosts this five-day holiday camp where kids aged 5 to 11 enjoy a fun-filled week of learning about God’s great love for each and every one of us.

In the book of Judges the prophet Deborah sings a song of praise to the Lord after her awe-inspiring leadership in the defeat of Sisera. Her song encourages us to pray in gratitude for those who have led us well, and that we would be well led. And it encourages us to do this specifically by singing.

Is there a song in your heart with which your soul resonates that you can sing for your five friends on this seventh day of Thy Kingdom Come?
