While we may not have the gift of tongues that was bestowed upon the disciples, we are endowed with the same grace and guidance by the Holy Spirit. Like those early disciples, we are called to put our own gifts to use and spread the Good News with love, today on Pentecost and always.

From Augustine:

Breathe in me O Holy Spirit
that my thoughts may all be holy;

Act in me O Holy Spirit
that my works, too, may be holy;

Draw my heart O Holy Spirit
that I love but what is holy;

Strengthen me O Holy Spirit
to defend that is holy;

Guard me then O Holy Spirit
that I always may be holy.
