Blaisantkerk - ICCG

Blaisantkerk - ICCG We hope that you will soon join us for our Sunday worship service to see for yourself more of what we are about.

This International Community was born out of the desire to create a spiritual home for Flemish as well as International people. As Flemish Christians we want to be hospitable to people from abroad. As International Christians, we want to be integrated further into the Flemish society. This is one of the reasons why our Sunday worship service takes place both in Dutch and in English.

Small Talk | part 5 | So Connected, Why So Lonely? – by Max Jeganathan RZIM

I have so many friends online, but why do I still feel so lonely and plagued by anxiety? With so much progress in our society, why is overall life satisfaction going backwards? Our world is more digitally connected than ever, but levels of depression and anxiety are increasing. We are seeking satisfaction in things that cannot satisfy us. The Christian worldview offers a way to anchor our worth and identity that will ultimately fulfill the longings of our hearts.

HE IS RISEN

Jesus Christ is alive. He rose from the dead. And that day, that Easter morning, that Easter Sunday morning, that first Easter. When Mary and Mary Magdalene and Salome went to the grave expecting to anoint a dead body, they saw the angel sitting there and they said, “Where is Jesus?” The angel said, “He is not here. He is risen.”
I submit to you that this is the greatest news the world has ever heard: “He is not here. He has conquered the grave. He is alive.” I believe that there is more proof that Jesus Christ rose from the dead than almost any other fact in Roman history. I do not believe there is a fact in ancient history today so well proven as the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But even if there was no proof, no historical proof, no scientific proof – and there is – I would still believe it because I believe that this book is God’s inspired word and the whole early church went up and down the country preaching the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That was the thing that shook the Roman Empire, that a man had risen from the dead. That he was alive. That death could not hold him. Christ is alive. He is a living Saviour. He is alive

Billy Graham's voice reflects the passion we should all feel Easter Sunday. HE IS RISEN INDEED! We have been saved!

A CHURCH WITHOUT BORDERS
The International Community Church Gent (ICCG) was born out of the desire to create a spiritual home for Flemish as well as International people. As Flemish people, we want to be hospitable to people from another language or culture. As Internationals, we want to be further integrated into the Flemish society. This is one of the reasons why our Sunday worship is bi-lingual (in English and in Dutch). During this time of crisis, we continue to meet virtually. If you would love to join our online community on Sunday late afternoon to praise God, pray and meet together, please contact us. You can do this through our website (www.iccg.be), by e-mail ([email protected]) or on Facebook (www.facebook.com/groups/ICCGent) so that we can send you the necessary information to join us.

Small Talk | part 4 | Why suffering? – by Max Jeganathan RZIM

Why is the world so full of suffering? If God is good, why doesn't he remove all the evil and pain in the world? Does God even care? God is loving and relational, but has also given us the freedom to choose not to love him or love others, this often creates suffering and pain. However, he has not abandoned us but instead offers us comfort, help, and the promise of a future free of all suffering.

Small Talk | part 3 | Why Jesus? – by Max Jeganathan RZIM

Aren't all worldviews ultimately the same? Does objective truth even exist? Why would I choose to believe in and follow Jesus? Conflicting truth claims cannot all be true at the same time or in the same way. Unlike other leaders, Jesus doesn't simply tell us what truth to follow, he claimed to be truth personified. Amazingly, he said that if we get to know him, then we will know the truth.

We have to wait to be vaccinated, the third wave is just around the corner and the 'realm of freedom' is shifting a little further in time. Negative feelings increase. How can we navigate between the virus and depression when it is wet, dark and cold outside?

When the first lockdown started, we thought it would be over by Easter. During the summer we regained some freedom. The subsequent semi-lockdown was a setback, but we persevered because the vaccines were coming. During the Christmas holidays, most of us kept the corona rules very well. And then some more contagious mutants of COVID came into the country. The figures started to rise again. Who can stay happy under so much uncertainty and lack of perspective?

For this reason, I would like to invite you to the Blaisantkerk where we as an International Community Church* (ICCG) have our spiritual home, for a chat, a cup of coffee or tea on Wednesday afternoon between 14h00 and 18h00.

Because we want to do it in corona proof manner, I would like to ask you to make an appointment. Anyone who is interested in a good conversation, a listening ear, or wants to share a prayer need is more than welcome! (Coffee and tea will be provided.)

Make use of our online bookings page (https://swskmoogdozlzftaqg.10to8.com) to let us know what time you will be stopping by. I am looking forward to seeing you!

Why not enjoy a nice chat together with a good cup of coffee or tea?

*The International Church Community (ICCG) was born out of the desire to create a spiritual home for both Flemish and international people. As a church community, we belong to the Protestant Evangelical wing. From the beginning of our existence, I, Leo Proot, have been the pastor of this Christian Community. The Blaisantkerk is located at Blaisantvest 37, 9000 Ghent.

Small Talk | part 2 | Are science and God at odds? – by Max Jeganathan RZIM

Do we have to choose between God and science? Hasn't modern science removed the need for and possibility of the existence of God? This thinking represents a false dichotomy. Science is concerned with understanding the physical world, and God exists primarily in the realm of the metaphysical. There is no contradiction between the existence of a creation and its creator.

Small Talk | part 1 | Why trust the Bible? – by Max Jeganathan RZIM

On what basis can we rely on and trust the Bible? Is it historically credible? How can we test whether it accurately describes ancient events? Based on the scholarly practice of textual criticism, we can evaluate the authenticity and accuracy of ancient documents. This method is used by historians who study the writings of Plato, Homer, and also the New Testament.
