Thanks to our dedicated and talented team of flower arrangers, last Sunday we enjoyed this beautiful display of sunflowers. 🌻
What does the beauty of flowers inspire you to think about? Can it inspire us to give thanks for God’s marvellous creation - that precious gift which we are called to look after with love and care?
Today the Church gives thanks for the life and witness of St Clare of Assisi, who died on this day in 1253. A faithful companion of St Francis in his ministry, she was described as a ‘little plant’ in Francis’s spiritual garden.
This little plant has made a great impact on countless people throughout the world. Clare founded the Order of Poor Clares, and her faith continues to inspire people who, even today, follow the Franciscan way of life.
May St Clare’s example remind us that, like a small flower, a life rooted in God can grow and flourish, bringing beauty and hope to the world around us. 🌻
The Collect for the festival of St Claire of Assisi:
God of peace,
who in the poverty of the blessed Clare
gave us a clear light to shine
in the darkness of this world:
give us grace so to follow in her footsteps
that we may, at the last,
rejoice with her in your eternal glory;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
