For 1,092 days, childhood in G@za has been shaped by displacement, destruction and uncertainty.
Children who should have been sitting in classrooms, playing with friends and growing up surrounded by family have instead experienced repeated disruption to nearly every part of ordinary life.
UNICEF says almost every school in G@za has been destroyed or severely damaged, while hundreds of thousands of children need alternative learning opportunities. In September, Al Jazeera reported on children returning to education through makeshift spaces after years of interruption.
The humanitarian crisis also continues beyond education. UNICEF’s latest winter plan says more than 1.76 million people in G@za are living in overcrowded displacement sites or damaged and inadequate shelters. These conditions leave children exposed to cold, rain, flooding and disease.
OCHA has also reported continuing shortages of medical supplies, fuel, equipment and other essential materials.
Behind every figure is a family trying to survive another difficult day.
The world must remember that P@lestinian children are not statistics. They are children who deserve safety, education, healthcare and a childhood.
G@za must not be forgotten.
