Today we were able to help 371 people in total including 25 packets of milk for babies and infants. Our dedicated and committed staff at the church make sure we assist everyone who comes to us on a Thursday. As always, ingredients are locally sourced food and this week we offered plain pulao rice, spicy chicken & egg curry.

The Michael Martin Food Assistance Program continues to be a vital service for the near neighborhood community around the church in Dhaka. All of us who are involved with the program are very happy to be able to return to the local community and help in whatever small way we can.

It is with deep regret we have learned another valuable member of the Armenian community in Asia passed away on July 3rd 2026. Hagop (Jack) Maxian of Hong Kong was a dedicated and loyal supporter of Armenians in Asia, particularly in Hong Kong where he devotedly pledged his life to helping the community throughout his life.
We reproduce a very moving tribute made by Barouyr Paris of the Armenian Community in Thailand.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hagop Maxian, one of our most senior and long-standing members in Asia, based in Hong Kong: The respected friend and great husband, Melkonian alumni, great patriot and benefactor to the Armenian church and community, also known as Jack Max.
Born on 2 January 1941 in Homs, Syria, Jack’s family moved to Beirut at an early age, where he attended the Melkonian Educational Institute in Nicosia, Cyprus.
After graduating, he engaged in trade and commerce, a journey which took him to Asia, specifically Hong Kong, where he built his business empire. However, he never forgot his community, friends, family, church and country, especially the Melkonian Educational Institute, where he gained his early knowledge and education and made lasting friends.
He was extremely active in the Armenian community in Asia and built a Chapel in Hong Kong, as well as a place for Armenians called ‘Hay Tun’, where all Armenians in Asia, as well as those passing through, could stop by and enjoy his wonderful hospitality.
Jack was married to Julie Max, who was by his side throughout his life. Although she was Armenian by spirit and Chinese by descent, she never spared her energy in supporting him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie; his brother, Nerses, who lives in Hong Kong with his family; his sister, Maro, who lives in Australia; and his other sister, Ashken, who lives in Los Angeles with her family.
We have lost a great Armenian man, but his legacy will live on through the benevolent work he did for his people and community.
With Heartfelt condolences,
Arto and Sirin Artinian, Bangkok, Thailand”
