A heartfelt and dignified farewell meeting was held today in honor of the outgoing High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Mr. Pranay Kumar Verma. On this special occasion, a delegation led by Venerable Buddhapriya Mahathero, the esteemed President of the Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha, visited the High Commission of India in Dhaka to convey their deep gratitude and warm wishes.
The delegation also included Vice President Mr. Ranjit Kumar Barua, Vice President Venerable Swarupananda Bhikkhu, and President of Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha Youth, Central Committee Mr. Brahmanda Pratap Barua. Their collective presence created an atmosphere of sincerity, respect, and appreciation.
During his tenure, Mr. Pranay Kumar Verma’s contributions extended far beyond diplomatic responsibilities. He played a significant role in strengthening the cultural and religious ties between Bangladesh and India. In particular, his support for the Buddhist community has been truly remarkable. His longstanding relationship with the Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery and the Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha opened new avenues of cooperation and understanding.
Over the past few years, numerous Buddhist pilgrims from different parts of Bangladesh have been able to visit sacred sites in India, thanks to his kind cooperation and positive initiatives. Under the leadership of Venerable Buddhapriya Mahathero, the visa facilitation process became smoother and more accessible through the efforts of the Indian High Commission. As a result, devotees were able to undertake spiritual journeys to revered destinations such as Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Kushinagar, which greatly enriched their religious and spiritual lives.
In his remarks, Venerable Buddhapriya Mahathero stated, “Honorable High Commissioner Mr. Pranay Kumar Verma is not just a diplomat; he is a true friend of our community. We will always remain grateful for his compassion, sincerity, and unwavering support.” He also expressed hope that the friendly relations between the two nations would continue to grow stronger in the future.
During the meeting, the delegation presented token of appreciation to Mr. Pranay Kumar Verma and extended their heartfelt wishes for his future endeavors. Discussions also highlighted the importance of further enhancing Buddhist cultural exchange, improving pilgrimage arrangements, and initiating joint religious and humanitarian activities between Bangladesh and India.

বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত ভারতের বিদায়ী হাই কমিশনার প্রণয় ভর্মা মহোদয়ের সম্মানে আজ এক আন্তরিক ও মর্যাদাপূর্ণ বিদায় সাক্ষাৎ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এই বিশেষ মুহূর্তে বাংলাদেশ বৌদ্ধ কৃষ্টি প্রচার সংঘ-এর মাননীয় সভাপতি ভদন্ত বুদ্ধপ্রিয় মহাথেরো মহোদয়ের নেতৃত্বে একটি প্রতিনিধিদল ঢাকাস্থ ভারতীয় হাই কমিশন ঢাকা কার্যালয়ে উপস্থিত হয়ে তাঁর প্রতি গভীর কৃতজ্ঞতা ও শুভকামনা জ্ঞাপন করেন।
এই প্রতিনিধিদলে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন সংঘের সহ-সভাপতি মি. রনজিত কুমার বড়ুয়া, সহ-সভাপতি ভদন্ত স্বরূপানন্দ ভিক্ষু এবং যুব কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সভাপতি মি. ব্রহ্মাণ্ড প্রতাপ বড়ুয়া। সকলের সম্মিলিত উপস্থিতি অনুষ্ঠানে এক ভিন্নমাত্রার আন্তরিকতা ও সম্মাননার আবহ তৈরি করে।
প্রণয় ভর্মা মহোদয়ের দায়িত্বকাল শুধুমাত্র কূটনৈতিক সম্পর্কের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ ছিল না; বরং তিনি বাংলাদেশ ও ভারতের মধ্যকার সাংস্কৃতিক ও ধর্মীয় সম্পর্ককে আরও গভীর ও সুদৃঢ় করার ক্ষেত্রে এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন। বিশেষ করে বৌদ্ধ ধর্মাবলম্বীদের জন্য তাঁর অবদান অনস্বীকার্য। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ধর্মরাজিকা বৌদ্ধ মহাবিহার কমপ্লেক্স এবং বাংলাদেশ বৌদ্ধ কৃষ্টি প্রচার সংঘের সঙ্গে তাঁর সুসম্পর্ক এক নতুন দিগন্ত উন্মোচন করেছে।
গত কয়েক বছরে বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলের অসংখ্য বৌদ্ধ তীর্থযাত্রী ভারত ভ্রমণের সুযোগ পেয়েছেন মূলত তাঁর আন্তরিক সহযোগিতা ও ইতিবাচক মনোভাবের কারণে। ভদন্ত বুদ্ধপ্রিয় মহাথেরোর নেতৃত্বে এই ভিসা প্রক্রিয়াকে সহজতর ও কার্যকর করার ক্ষেত্রে প্রণয় ভর্মা মহোদয় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সহায়তা প্রদান করেন। এর ফলে বৌদ্ধ ধর্মাবলম্বীরা সহজে ভারতের বিভিন্ন পবিত্র তীর্থস্থান—যেমন বোধগয়া, সারনাথ, কুশীনগর প্রভৃতি—পরিদর্শনের সুযোগ পেয়েছেন, যা তাদের ধর্মীয় ও আধ্যাত্মিক জীবনে গভীর প্রভাব ফেলেছে।
বিদায় সাক্ষাতে ভদন্ত বুদ্ধপ্রিয় মহাথেরো মহোদয় তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন, “মাননীয় হাই কমিশনার প্রণয় ভর্মা শুধু একজন কূটনীতিক নন, তিনি আমাদের সম্প্রদায়ের একজন সত্যিকারের বন্ধু। তাঁর সহমর্মিতা, আন্তরিকতা এবং সহযোগিতার জন্য আমরা চিরকৃতজ্ঞ থাকবো।” তিনি আরও উল্লেখ করেন যে, ভবিষ্যতেও দুই দেশের মধ্যে এই বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ সম্পর্ক অব্যাহত থাকবে এবং নতুন উচ্চতায় পৌঁছাবে।
সাক্ষাতের এক পর্যায়ে প্রতিনিধিদল প্রণয় ভর্মা মহোদয়ের হাতে শুভেচ্ছা স্মারক তুলে দেন এবং তাঁর ভবিষ্যৎ কর্মজীবনের জন্য আন্তরিক শুভকামনা জানান। আলোচনায় ভবিষ্যতে বাংলাদেশ ও ভারতের মধ্যে বৌদ্ধ সাংস্কৃতিক বিনিময়, তীর্থযাত্রা ব্যবস্থাপনা এবং যৌথ উদ্যোগে বিভিন্ন ধর্মীয় ও মানবিক কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়নের বিষয়েও গুরুত্বারোপ করা হয়।

বাংলাদেশ বৌদ্ধ কৃষ্টি প্রচার সংঘ এই মহান কূটনীতিকের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জ্ঞাপন করছে এবং তাঁর আগামী দিনের পথচলা হোক সফল, শান্তিময় ও কল্যাণময়—এই কামনা করছে। একইসাথে আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, তিনি যেখানেই দায়িত্ব পালন করবেন, সেখানেও মানবতা, সম্প্রীতি ও পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার এক উজ্জ্বল দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করবেন।
পরিশেষে বলা যায়, এই বিদায় কেবল একজন হাই কমিশনারের বিদায় নয়, বরং এটি এক আন্তরিক বন্ধুর বিদায়—যিনি দুই দেশের হৃদয়ের মধ্যে সেতুবন্ধন রচনা করে গেছেন। তাঁর অবদান স্মরণীয় হয়ে থাকবে এবং আমাদের পথচলায় অনুপ্রেরণা জোগাবে দীর্ঘদিন।
