আঠারশো খ্রিস্টাব্দের শুরুতে মোহাম্মদ আলী শিকদার তার পূর্ব পুরুষ ফতেহ আলী শিকদারের নামে ফতেহনগর গ্রামের গোড়াপত্তন করেন। পরবর্তীতে ১৮৪০ খ্রিস্টাব্দে শিকদার পরিবারের আরেক কৃতি পুরুষ ওবায়েদ উল্লাহ সেখানে একটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ জামে মসজিদ স্থাপন করেন। মসজিদের ভবিষ্যত রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ এবং অন্যান্য খরচ নির্বাহের জন্য তিনি ১ একর উর্বর জমি (কাজীর ঘোনা) মসজিদের নামে ওয়াকফ করে দেন।
১৩৫০ বঙ্গাব্দে (১৯৪০ খ্রিস্টাব্দ) মহা মন্বন্তরের পর ব্রিটিশ খেদাও আন্দোলনের প্রবাদ পুরুষ তৎকালীন জোয়ারা বোর্ড প্রেসিডেন্ট নজিরুদ্দিন আহমেদ তার মরুশি জায়গায় ওযু করার সুবিধার্থে মসজিদের পাশে একটি পুকুর খনন করে দেন।
এরপর গত শতকের ষাটের দশকের শুরুতে গ্রামের কৃতিমান পুরুষ ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধের অন্যতম সংগঠক, দেশ বরেণ্য আইনজ্ঞ এডভোকেট বদিউল আলমের উদ্যোগে ও গ্রামবাসীর ঐকান্তিক প্রচেষ্টায় মসজিদটি আধা পাকা করা হয়। স্বাধীনতার পর তিনি মসজিদটি আরেকটু সম্প্রসারিত করে সম্পূর্ণ পাকা আর মোজাইক করে দেন।
২০১৪ সালে শিকদার পরিবারের বর্তমান প্রজন্ম, আন্তর্জাতিক মিডিয়া ব্যক্তিত্ব কঙ্গোর অনারারী কনসাল, হিজ এক্সিলেন্সি জিয়াউদ্দিন আদিল এবং তার সহধর্মিণী সাবেক মার্কিন দূতাবাস কর্মকর্তা ও বিশিষ্ট সমাজ সেবিকা সালমা খানমের সার্বিক প্রচেষ্টায় তুরস্কের ঐতিহাসিক অটোমান স্থাপত্যের আদলে মোহাম্মদ আলী শিকদার জামে মসজিদ কমপ্লেক্সটি সম্পূর্ণ নতুন আঙ্গিকে, আধুনিক ও বৃহৎ পরিসরে পুননির্মাণ কাজ শুরু হয়। ২০২০ সালে আধুনিক এই মসজিদটির পূর্ণাঙ্গ নির্মাণ কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়। এরপর ২০২২ সালে জিয়াউদ্দিন আদিল ও সালমা খানম ইমাম ও মুয়াজ্জিন এর বাসস্থান, লাইব্রেরি, মাদ্রাসা ও ওজুখানা নির্মাণ করেন।
In the beginning of 18th century AD, Muhammad Ali Shikder built the Fatehnagar village. It was named after his ancestor Fateh Ali Shikder. In 1840, the following generation of the Shikder ancestry named Obaied Ullah, established a Mosque. In order to maintain the Jame Mosque, he donated a land space of one acre (Kazir Ghona) for future safeguarding of the sanctuary.
During the Bengali year 1350, (1943 AD), after “The Moha Monotor”, the president of Zowara Board Naziruddin Ahmed, leader of the movement of “British Khedao”, took an initiative to set up a pond to expedite ablution.
In 60s of the 19th century, the Mosque was semi paved under the stratagem of a laureate man, also one of the organizers of Bangladesh liberation war, eminent lawyer Advocate Badiul Alam. Later he enhanced the ambience of the Mosque by a full mosaic floor. This initiation took place after the Liberation War.
In the year 2014 His Excellency Ziauddin Adil, successor of Shikder family, and his wife, eminent social worker Salma Khanam took the initiative to renovate the Mohammad Ali Shikder Jame Mosque Complex in the light of historical Ottoman architecture. The complete construction of this modern mosque was completed in 2020. Then in 2022, Ziauddin Adil and Salma Khanam built the residence of the imam and muezzin, the library, the madrasah and the abode.
