North East Pastoral Wool Show

Last Saturday saw over 150 people from the North Easy and Southern Flinders attend the 2nd annual North East Wool Show in Yunta. 55 fleeces were displayed for judging with Mount Victor Station via Yunta taking out both the Best Fine Ewe and Grand Champion fleeces. Best Medium Ewe was awarded to Jim Treloar of Wadnaminga Station. Best Hogget was awarded to Greg Treloar of Yaramba Station and Josh Sheridan of Braemar Station was awarded Beast Weaner Fleece. Congratulations to all the winners!
Sadly we also came together to bid farewell to Peterborough Elders manager Tim Taplin who is heading for the greener pastures of retirement. Tim has passed the torch to new Elders Peterborough manager Brenton Miller. Tim has been heavily involved with pastoralists and the communities of both Yunta and Peterborough for many years and will be sadly missed. Warren Breeding gave a very heartfelt speech to Tim on the night and we join him in wishing Tim all the very best for his retirement. Thanks to Tim, Brenton, Eileen of elders Peterborough and Alistaire and Lucy from elders broken hill for a another great night.

** Out and about at the North East Wool Show**

Congratulations to the amazingly talented Miss Emily Riggs of Iris and Wool for her fashion show at this years North East Wool Show. It was a fabulous parade showcasing a variety of local woolen products with something for the whole family. Local models included Grant Breeding, Morgan Macdonald, Eileen Martin, Louise Burford, Olivia Sice, Lauren Yeomans and some super cute mini models. We highly recommend checking out this amazing local business.

On a cool Yunta night 120 invited guests attended the Inaugural North East Pastoral Wool Show at the Yunta Race Club venue.
55 fleeces were entered from the area Peterborough to Olary.

Judged by the Paul Noble, Elders and Adrian Dewell, Nutrien, both were very complimentary on the evenness and type displayed.

Winners
Fine Wool Hogget - Teetulpa Station
Strong Wool Hogget - Braemar Station
Fine Wool Ewe - Teetulpa Station
Strong Wool ewe - East Whydown Station
Weaner - Teetulpa Station
Grand Champion - Teetulpa Station.

During the night guests were supplied a 4 course meal prepared and donated by the Rotary club of Peterborough while being entertained with Dinner speaker John Roberts CEO of AWI and a fashion parade by Emily Riggs - Iris and Wool. A Batchelor's auction followed by an auction of goods donated by Merchandise Suppliers. All Proceeds of these two auctions will be donated to the RFDS.

Guest were in awe of the new facility at Yunta and commented on the design and decoration work done by local Melanie Lewis.

Tom Penna, Elders stud stock Auctioneer was the MC for the night.
Now all that needs to be done is the wool to be pressed up to be sold at auction and all the proceeds to be donated to the RFDS.

Judging of the fleeces has started for the North East Pastoral Wool Show. The judges are Paul Noble Elders District Wool Manager for the Northern Pastoral Districts and Adrian Dewell from Nutrien Pt Augusta.
