On this Pentecost Sunday it was a joy to worship and share lunch with our friends at Westgate Baptist Community Church in Yarraville. The Spirit was alive and at work as we sang and prayed; listened to scripture read in Italian, Farsi, Sgaw Karen, Africaans, Kirundi and English;
breathed deeply in and out; and made doves as a visible expression of our prayers. Thanks to Rev Jill McDonald, Rev David Withers and all who contributed. Let's do it again soon!

Join us on Sunday 19 April at 12pm to share in a Feast for Freedom lunch, to be held in our community hall. We will be raising funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). The ASRC provides vital services, including food, shelter and healthcare, to around 8,000 people each year. Our menu is based around some delicious Palestinian and Sri Lankan recipes provided by the ASRC’s Hero Cooks for 2026: Noha and Nige. All dishes are vegetarian and most will be vegan and gluten free.
Please RSVP to Ros on 0401 932 414. If you can't attend but would like to donate, visit https://www.feastforfreedom.org.au/.../feast-for-freedom
Hope to see you on 19 April to enjoy good food, good company and to support a good cause!

What would happen if we saw darkness not as something to turn from but to be transformed by? In a culture (and a faith) addicted to light, certainty, productivity, and being right, John 3 offers a different way. A way of unknowing, where darkness becomes the place not only of honesty and deepening of faith but where we might finally see God face to face.

*Rev Alisha will take a short break and return with fresh reflections on June 28, 2026*

For the next 3 Sundays we’ll be creating images, paintings and words in response to our Lenten journey. Join us after service to throw some colour on paper or stroll by Bayview Road week to week to see how we’ve been journeying… 👣🎨

As we enter into this second week of Lent, we are invited to make friends with the dark edges of our souls and even the darkness we see in the world.

This might seem strange, confronting or even offensive, but when we face our shadows with curiosity, honesty and even tenderness, we might find that this becomes the place where healing, transformation and liberation is birthed from.

From swept floors at Lunar New Year to the long fast of Ramadan and Jesus’ forty days in the desert, this week we follow the long thread of truth woven through human history: that renewal begins with release. This reflection explores Lent as an embodied practice, marked not just in calendars but in bodies, where we learn to loosen our grip on false power and easy answers. Here, the wilderness does not help us escape suffering, but teaches us how to face it honestly so that new life might rise on the other side.
