Message From Bishop Greg Bennet

Dear friends
The Prime Minister along with the Premier for NSW has announced a National Day of Reflection for tomorrow, Sunday 21 December, to honour the victims of the horrific terrorist attack at Bondi Beach and to stand in solidarity with the Jewish community. Australians are invited to light a candle as a quiet act of remembrance at 6.47pm, exactly a week after the attack unfolded.
This weekend, in the Christian calendar, the fourth of the Advent candles is lit and in the Jewish community the final day of Hannukah (Chanukah) is observed. As our communities light the fourth of the Advent candles today, we are reminded that the wreath is almost fully illuminated. The candles of hope, peace, and joy have already taken their places, and the candle of love completes the circle. It is a reminder of the Advent promise: that even when the world is fractured and suffering, love is still possible.
We hold in our prayers this weekend all who are suffering as a result of last week’s attack at Bondi Beach, and we pray that love will light the path for all toward peace and healing.

Jubilee of Outreach to the Poor!
As a part of the upcoming Jubilee celebrations, the community of the parishes of Yarram, Foster, Fish creek and Toora has been working to prepare hampers for the Outreach to the Poor.
This Diocesan Jubilee celebration will take place this Saturday, at 11:00 AM, with Mass celebrated by Bishop Greg.
We encourage your support! Please donate non-perishable goods to help fill the hampers that will be passed on to those in need.

Update on Fr Michael Willemsen PP

Prayerful greetings on the Feast of St Teresa of Avila.

You will be relieved to know that Fr Michael’s surgery has gone well this morning. His family have informed me that the neurosurgeon advised them that everything has gone as hoped and planned.

I thank you for your concern and all the prayers you have offered for Fr Michael. We continue to pray for God’s gentle healing and presence with him in the days ahead.

As you would appreciate visitors remain restricted to members of Fr Michael’s immediate family and those who accompany him spiritually.

Let nothing disturb you,

Get ready, everyone! I'm packing my bags and shining my halo because I, Luce the Jubilee Mascot, am going on a pilgrimage!

I'll be joining the Jubilee of Catechists on a special two-day pilgrimage to the heart of Gippsland on Saturday, September 27th, and Sunday, September 28th, 2025.

We will pilgrimage thru the beautiful and historic churches in Dargo, Heyfield, Maffra, Newry, and Cowwarr. The pilgrimage will include Mass, Rosary, Adoration, and plenty of time for fellowship with friends from across the Diocese.

Please do not enter the area. The matter is being dealt with by the appropriate persons.
Mass will go ahead on Sunday. Parishioners are to enter the church via the side door opposite the parish office.
