The Tripsy Tipsy Gypsies

Uniting three seasoned international musicians: Pete Hawkes (acoustic guitar, vocals), George Washingmachine (fiddle) and Christian Marsh (harmonica), they bring together original jazz, blues, folk and Celtic compositions, exploding into gypsy-jazz fiddle, Celtic reels, blues harmonica and sizzling slide. Expect virtuosic musicianship on instruments of mass distraction.

Our 10/10/26 Performers Concert at Empire Bay was a 10 out of 10 night! It had it all. That little hall oozed with fun and magic. Thank you everyone for contributing to another successful night.

A little taste of what the Haystack Mountain Hermits do.

It all started with an email.
The Troubadour was informed that the fabulous Haystack Mountain Hermits would be passing by Woy Woy enroute from Queensland to a wedding in Sydney and would the Troubadour like to book them for a one-off show. We had booked them before and they were amazing. We had a pretty full schedule, all our regular performance spaces were booked for upcoming shows, but suddenly someone suggested the beautiful little hall behind the Anglican Church on Blackwall Road. It was suggested, accepted, and locked in. There are a lot of HMH fans locally and very soon the venue was booked solid. And what a great night it was.
The ’Haystacks’ are a fabulous bluegrass family band – and it really is a ‘family band’! Dad Dave (on dobro) and Mum Kerrie (on double bass) have produced and created an amazing ensemble of stellar musicians. Marcus (on guitar), Lachlan (on mandolin), Ella (on banjo and percussion) and Jackson (on accordion and washboard) are staggeringly talented siblings. On top of that they all sing and harmonise like angels.
This six-piece is special and will truly go places. If you haven’t seen them before, make every effort to seek them out and book some tickets. You will not be disappointed.
I was going to mention some of their songs but it’s just too hard to single any one out – they are all so good, both covers and Kerrie-penned originals. Kerrie is a beautiful songwriter and wrote the hauntingly beautiful ‘The Horses Stay Behind - One Last Ride’, sung by Jackson that opened the show.
