Starting Monday, February 23rd, we invite you to join us in a 5-day prayer & fast. This is a time to set aside distractions, refocus on God, and deepen your connection with Him through prayer and intentionality.
Why do we fast?
• To starve the flesh, feed the Spirit: It helps us deny sinful impulses and bring our desires into alignment with God’s Spirit. Galatians 5:16-17
• We fast to depend on God. It reminds us that He sustains us in every way — body, mind and spirit. (Matthew 4:4)
• We fast to draw close to God. When distractions are quieted, our intimacy with Him deepens. As Richard Foster said, “More than any other discipline, fasting reveals the things that control us.” (Acts 13:2)
• We fast to seek God’s help. Throughout scripture, fasting is connected to moments of challenge, crisis and repentance. It is an act of surrender. (Nehemiah 1:4, Esther 4:16)
• We fast to repent and reset. It creates space for genuine repentance and helps reorder our loves and desires back to God. (Joel 2:12)
How do we fast for 5 days?
• Set a rhythm.
Commit to the full 5 days, whether that looks like fully abstaining from food or fasting during certain times each day.
• Choose your duration.
You might fast all day and eat in the evening, skip one or two meals, or fast within specific time windows.
• Be intentional.
Use the time you would normally spend preparing or eating meals to pray, read scripture, and seek God.
Biblical fasting is a whole-body prayer, not a diet. If fasting from food is not possible, you can abstain from things like alcohol, coffee, or screen time. The goal is to create space for repentance, prayer and deeper intimacy with God.
We’re expectant that this time of prayer and fasting will reveal God’s strength and guidance in your life ❤️
