Today is Ascension Sunday, the day in the Church calendar where Christians reflect on the mystery and beauty of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It also falls within the season of Ascension, remembering Jesus returning to His place alongside the Father after preparing the disciples for the mission ahead.
In this morning’s reflection, Rev. Vanessa invited the congregation to imagine the awe of that moment, the disciples standing beneath a bright sky, watching Jesus ascend, while the angels gently urge them forward: don’t keep standing here looking upward, there is still work to do.
The reflection invited the church community to consider what mission looks like today. Not simply as programs or events, but as the everyday calling to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
Mission can look like compassion, hospitality, justice, kindness, advocacy, listening deeply, feeding the hungry, walking alongside those who are struggling, and creating spaces where people feel seen and loved.
Trinity Sunday reminds us that the nature of God is relationship, connection, and love poured outward. As followers of Christ, the invitation is not only to reflect on that love, but to embody it within the community and beyond.
