RAL held it's final monthly meeting on Saturday 28th November.
This meeting had the most number of members attending. The guest speaker for this meeting was Senior Barrister, Sean Reidy. We discussed activities that we had carried out during the past month. The discussion was mostly dominated by the Government's passing of the immigration bills which caused a lot of distress for the Refugees and people seeking Asylum.

From last month onwards with the help of one of our members, we started monthly dance and karaoke program. Although the numbers are small it is an enthusiastic group that attends each session. The session is coached by Marcela Castro. Below are some photos of the last session held on Saturday 10th August.

Another of our activities in July was our participation in the Luminous Lantern Parade. This is where we exhibited our new banner. The parade was well attended with lots of bright light, music and dancing.

Following the talk we went on to celebrate World Refugee Day with a Picnic on Saturday 20th of July. The crowd enjoyed the face painting, games for children, music and the ample food that was provided. Everyone enjoyed the fine weather and fun.

The Refugee Association of Logan was very active during the month of June and July apart from its normal meetings etc.
In the month of June, we hosted an interesting talk by Dr. Juewei, on the topic of "Communities of Kindness". on Saturday 22nd of June. The people who attended found it interesting.

On Saturday 14th October, RAL held its "ANNUAL GIVEAWAY FAIR" at St Paul's Church Hall in Woodridge. A good variety of new and valuable items were on offer for those in need. About 150 - 200 People Seeking Asylum and Refugees queued up to
collect their share. Each person would have taken away items worth at least $200 - $300. This is the sixth year that RAL is successfully holding its Giveaway Fair. A big thanks to our volunteer force for their dedicated assistance on the day.

RAL celebrated World Refugee Week at the end of June with a picnic. The picnic drew a large crowd between 150 - 200 people, the weather was fabulous with a variety of food served. Everyone who attended had a great time!

The 25th Luminous Lantern Parade this year was a fabulous event attended by thousands of people. Among them, was a team from the Refugee Association of Logan. These are some of the pictures that marked the event. 🙂

We invite people with an inclination to help out in the office for filling forms as well as service to the Association in general. If anyone is keen to teach our ESL class you are welcome as well.
