𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨 𝐀𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐠.

From 𝟏𝟒–𝟐𝟏 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, our diocese will have the opportunity to venerate the relic of this remarkable young saint and encounter the faith that shaped his short life.

At the heart of St Carlo’s life was a profound love for Jesus in the Eucharist. As a teenager with a gift for computers and web design, he researched Eucharistic miracles from around the world and created an exhibition to help others, particularly his peers, better understand the reality and importance of the Eucharist. That exhibition has since travelled internationally and will accompany the relic at many stops during the diocesan mission.

The week will include opportunities for Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, veneration of the relic, Reconciliation, prayer and the Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition at locations across the Diocese.

More than 600 Catholics from across Australia have already registered for Renewed & Sent, a national parish renewal summit hosted here in the Diocese of Wollongong.

Clergy, religious and lay leaders will come together in Campbelltown to pray, learn and explore practical ways our parishes can become more missionary, more welcoming and more focused on helping people encounter Christ.

This week, the Church celebrates the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, where Jesus teaches us about reconciliation, forgiveness and our responsibility to one another. When relationships are wounded, Christ calls us not to turn away or condemn, but to seek reconciliation with patience, honesty and love. At the heart of today’s Gospel is the extraordinary mercy of God, who never stops calling us back to himself and to one another.

We are delighted to welcome the brilliant Fr. Rob Galea, assistant priest at St Kilian’s Catholic Parish, Bendigo, in the Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst, to celebrate Mass for us this Sunday. Fr Rob is also the founder of ICON Ministry, which seeks to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to people around the world.

In his homily, Fr Rob speaks powerfully about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the fear that can sometimes keep us away from confession. He reminds us that the priest is not there to judge or condemn, but to offer the mercy, forgiveness, love and compassion of Christ. God’s mercy, Fr Rob tells us, is abundant and freely given. He encourages us to have the courage to approach confession and experience for ourselves the loving embrace of God the Father, who longs to forgive us and set us free.

As Australia celebrates Father’s Day today, we give thanks for fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers and all those who have offered the love, guidance and care of a father. May St Joseph, devoted husband of Mary and earthly father of Jesus, watch over and guide them.

This week, the Church celebrates the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, where Jesus speaks plainly about what it means to be his disciple: to renounce ourselves, take up our cross and follow him. It is a challenging invitation, but also one filled with hope. Christ does not ask us to carry our crosses alone; he walks the road with us.

We are delighted to welcome back the fantastic Fr Joshua Scott, parish priest at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Moruya, in the Archdiocese Canberra-Goulburn, to celebrate Mass for us this Sunday.

In his homily, Fr Joshua reminds us that being a Christian is not always easy. While the world often encourages us to seek comfort and put ourselves first, Jesus offers a far more radical path: to put ourselves aside, take up the things that burden us, and follow him. As we journey with Christ, those burdens can begin to fall away and we find ourselves drawing ever closer to him. Fr Joshua encourages us to keep going, trusting that Jesus is with us every step of the way: “He’ll surprise you, but he definitely won’t disappoint.”

This week, the Church celebrates the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, where we hear Peter’s great profession of faith: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” In response, Jesus entrusts Peter with a remarkable responsibility, giving him the keys of the kingdom of heaven and the authority to lead his Church.

We are delighted to welcome back the fantastic Fr Joshua Whitehead, parish priest at Caloundra Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of Brisbane, to celebrate Mass for us this Sunday.

In his homily, Fr Joshua draws a beautiful connection between Eliakim in the first reading and Peter in the Gospel. Both are entrusted with authority, but with that authority comes the responsibility to know the mind, heart and will of the one they serve. Fr Joshua reminds us that this invitation extends to each of us. Through Jesus Christ, God has made himself known, and as we allow ourselves to be transformed and our minds renewed, we can come to discern God’s will and discover more deeply how he is calling us to live.
