🎤 “Why did you join YMT?” — is what we asked current and past volunteers. Here are some of the answers we got…
“I joined YMT because I saw other people do it. I saw my sisters and lots of cool people do it. And I thought, ‘it’d be good for me, a good experience’. Because it helped them become more like themselves. And I wanted to help reach out to young people and give them some hope.”
— Linus, 18 (currently serving on YMT Perth)
“In prayer I felt God say to do team - like a rock dropping into a pond, the idea was dropped into my heart. So I figured I’d apply and see what God would do with that.”
— Catherine, 24 (currently serving on YMT Sydney)
“I joined YMT because when I was in high-school, the team ministered to me at a youth group and they were really invested in who I was which was very inspiring as a young person. I really wanted to do the same for other young people, as well as journeying with them in their journey with Christ.”
— Charlotte, 18 (currently serving on YMT Melbourne)
“At the time I had the space and a desire to do more with my life. I didnt want to keep studying and get into a job yet, I felt like I needed to do more with my life and for God. When I was least expecting it, team came to me and I felt like I couldn’t say ‘no’.”
— Edward, 26 (YMT Perth 2022, Sydney 2023)
“…the reason why I joined YMT last year is because I had my conversion, and I really wanted to share how my relationship with God changed through all the love and mercy that He gave me. He transformed my life into something completely new and different.
I wanted to share that possibility to high-school students as well. …
At the beginning of this year I felt God call me to a second year of mission. It was something I couldn’t say ‘no’ to, because I saw firsthand how God worked through me, and how much I grew in faith and personally on Youth Mission Team.”
— Catherine (Cuzzy), 21 (currently serving on YMT Perth)
YMT doesn’t just impact young people, but the volunteers as well. 💚
