🙏🏼 We can all benefit from deeper time with Jesus to survive the distractions that ordinary life creates.

That's why we are offering a 24 Hour Prayer Room this weekend to provide a space where people can pause in the busyness of life to rejoice and worship God, to reflect on Scripture, to ask for themselves, those they care about, and the world.

This Prayer Room will run from 12pm Friday 4 September to 12 pm Saturday 5 September.

What does our new self as a Christian look like?

"When we come to God he doesn't want us to come just to follow a bunch of rules.

No, he wants to make us new.

And so when we receive Jesus, we also receive the Holy Spirit. And he begins to change the things we love. We begin to love what God loves and hate what God hates."

Join us for Compassion Sunday this Sunday!

At Wollongong Baptist Church, we believe that the gospel transforms lives both locally and globally.

That's why this Sunday we are glad to welcome Compassion Australia to share with us and to partner together.

For over 70 years, Compassion Australia has been working to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Poverty has devastating consequences in the lives of vulnerable children, but it doesn’t need to have the last word in their lives.

There will be the opportunity this Sunday to sponsor a child and help bring hope to those in our global neighbourhood!

"God calls us to be faithful, not successful."

We had a special night thanking God for his work through the ministry of Jan, Jit and Anna over many years in eastern Thailand.

Jan headed to Thailand 49 years ago to work as a nurse at a hospital on the River Kwai, where she met Jit, and they established their life and ministry together there. They shared the good news of Jesus with the villages around them and headed Lantern light ministries, bringing hope and support to people living with disabilities .

Jan has now retired and is part of our congregation here at Wollongong Baptist Church, along with Anna.

We are thankful to have been partners in this gospel mission for some years, and to be able to celebrate their life of faithful commitment to the gospel.

What a beautiful reminder of what God can do through the lives of each of us as we faithfully serve him where he has put us.
