It was a privilege to be able to host Assistant Commissioner Joe Cassar yesterday for his final day. 🙏

Here is a prayer for service personnel who serve us so faithfully:

'Heavenly Father,
Thank you for those who serve us
in the defence and police forces,
the fire brigades and ambulance services.
Give them courage and protection
when they face loneliness,
misunderstanding and danger.
Help us to be grateful for what they do
and to support them with respect and honour,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.'

Our Annual Thanksgiving Day (ATD) is about celebrating and expressing our thankfulness for what God has done through Christ; our gratitude for the great gospel ministry here for over 167 years and into the future; and to give financially to projects and Christian ministries outside St Michael's to bless others.

This ATD we're joining together for a 'Thanksgiving Breakfast' the day before, on Saturday 19 September, where we'll enjoy food, quality time together, and a short service of thanks. We'd love our whole church family to come and join us! There'll be opportunities to pray together and share something you're thankful for.

A prayer for 🙏

'Dear Father in heaven,

On this Father’s Day, we thank you for your great love shown to us in the death and resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ.
We praise you that by your Holy Spirit, we can call you 'Father'.

We thank you this day for all fathers, grandfathers and godfathers.
We pray that each will come to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
By your grace, may they hunger for your word, grow in faith and desire to make Christ known.
Give each one courage and love, energy and perseverance as they serve their families, churches and communities.

And, heavenly Father, we pray today for those who mourn.
Children who mourn the loss of their fathers by death or separation;
fathers who mourn their children.
In the midst of their grief, may each find comfort and true hope in your fatherly care.

We ask these things through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.'

How do we move from understanding the Bible to applying it wisely in life and ministry?

We’re excited to welcome Peter Jensen for our upcoming training day as he helps us think theologically about God’s word, prayer, pastoral care and the questions Christians face today.

This morning is open to everyone, but especially for those who teach or lead at St Michael's, including our Growth Group leaders! If you’d like to grow in understanding God’s word and helping others do the same, we’d love you to join us.
