26 Million people have a public holiday today.

Because a soldier fought and died for them.

This is the ultimate Remembrance Day. He remembered us on that cross.

We know that deeper relationships bring reward. And deeper study enriches us. But then why are we satisfied, so many Sundays to just scratch the surface of both and go away unchanged?

Why not immerse yourself in The Word of God, reading large passages, more regularly? Why not immerse yourself in a community that exists for relationship, that takes intentional time to hear stories, to tell stories? Why not get yourself into places where you become locked in to encouragement, growth? Why not move away from the “late entry, quick exit” mentality that keeps you from pondering and connecting more deeply; and growing more regularly.

Church. Go to grow. In relationships. In faith. In hope. If the depth of the well we drink from determines the freshness of the water, then we need to plunge our buckets deeper.

“I keep the Lord always before me…” king David, Psalm 8.

How then, apart from reading the Bible (which King David did not have), do you saints reading this post “keep the Lord always before you? Engage in comments…

Russians "do church" differently than Nigerians, who do church differently than Australians. One is not “right” over the other. Scripture does not prescribe HOW we ought to gather. But it DOES say that we NEED to gather; doing so not to "check off the Sunday box," but for specific purposes.

"And let us... not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25

The "Day" is approaching. Are you in a gathering, regularly?

Faithfulness is about consistency, return. It starts with trust in the unseen; but if real, it manifests in actions that are as dependable as the sea returning to the sand, as a sailor returning home.

Scrolling has greatly reduced our ability to focus. No matter how good something is for us, if it takes too long, we reject it. We can’t read full books anymore. The result? Focus, sustained reading, critical thinking are on the decline. When this happens, we stay on the surface, happy with the surface things, dirt. We rarely happen upon the diamonds and gold that await us at a deeper level.

We read paper Bibles in our church. We neither scroll past spiritual truths, nor scroll past each other as we eat a meal face-to-face. Currently we sing, not facing a wall, but facing eachother; and the sound of each other‘s voice hits each other‘s ears and then the song between us rises to Heaven.

This is part of the abundant life that Jesus called us to. It can’t be acquired in “drive-through“ church experiences. We all scroll, but we’re called to a deeper and slower kind of living.
