Monday 22 June is the 49th birthday of the Uniting Church in Australia!

On 22 June 1977, the Congregational Union in Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia came together for an inaugural Assembly at Sydney Town Hall.

In its Statement to the Nation, the newly formed UCA committed itself to seeking reconciliation and justice for all:

“We pledge ourselves to hope and work for a nation whose goals are not guided by self-interest alone, but by concern for the welfare of all persons everywhere – the family of the One God – the God made known in Jesus of Nazareth the One who gave His life for others.”

This commitment remains the guiding mission of our Church.
