Mary Immaculate Church at Waverley in NSW is the mother-church in Australia of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor. It also fulfills the function of parish church in the Catholic parish of Saint Charles Borromeo in the Archdiocese of Sydney. Waverley Parish will be a sign of God's love for all people by being a welcoming and caring community which embraces the Gospel of Jesus in the spirit of Sai

nts Francis and Clare of Assisi. We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand. We walk on a land once occupied by the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

In Adoring the Eucharistic Lord, Archbishop Fisher reflects on the beauty of the Eucharist, the importance of prayer and adoration, and how spending time with Christ can renew our hearts and strengthen our faith.

As we celebrate Corpus Christi and look towards the International Eucharistic Congress in Sydney in 2028, we are invited to deepen our relationship with the Lord in the Eucharist.

A Big Thank You to all our Volunteers!

This National Volunteer Week, we give special thanks to the many dedicated volunteers who help our parish community each week through their generosity, kindness and service 💜

Whether serving at the altar, proclaiming the Word, assisting as Eucharistic Ministers, welcoming parishioners through hospitality and morning tea, helping with the offertory or supporting our liturgies with PowerPoint, care of the sacristy, providing flowers, washing linen and any other service I may have overlooked!

And of course, we are so grateful to our volunteers in youth ministry, music and singing plus outreach to the sick in nursing homes and homebound.

Every role plays such an important part in bringing our parish together because your time, commitment and willingness to serve help create a welcoming and faith-filled community for so many people.

If anyone would like to be involved in any of our ministries or service, please let me or Mariela in the office know by giving us your contact details.

Our Parish Ministries brochure is available at the back of the church and suggestions are always welcome.

Thank you one and all for the care, warmth and dedication you share so generously at Mary Immaculate Parish.

☕ Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea!

Join your fellow parishioners tomorrow, Sunday 17 May following the 9:15am Mass as we come together to raise funds for the Cancer Council Australia 🌼

We all know someone who has faced cancer, someone still fighting, someone who has survived or someone we have sadly lost. This is our chance to honour them and make a difference.

🍰 Cakes and biscuits will also be available for purchase outside after:

Saturday 16 May: Vigil Mass
Sunday 17 May: Evening Youth Mass

Every dollar raised goes directly to the Cancer Council.
Come along, share a moment with your community and help us make an impact 💛

Today, we celebrate and give thanks for all mothers and mother figures whose love, kindness and support touch the lives of so many each day 🫶🏻

Whether you are a mum, grandmother, step-mum, foster mum, mum-to-be or someone who lovingly cares for others, may you know how deeply appreciated you are.

We also hold close in prayer those for whom Mother’s Day may be difficult or emotional.

May God bless you with peace, joy and love this Mother’s Day 🤍

Lest we forget.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
we will remember them.

We honour and pray for all who have served and for those who gave their lives in service.
May eternal light shine upon them and may they rest in peace 🤍
