Census Night is tonight!
As part of the Census, Question 24 asks about your religious affiliation.
If you’re part of Disciple House, we’d encourage you to select “Other” and write “Pentecostal.”
Why does this matter?
Disciple House is part of the Australian Christian Churches (ACC), the largest fellowship of Pentecostal churches in Australia, representing more than 1,100 churches and 400,000+ people. This makes Pentecostalism the second-largest Christian denomination in Australia by weekly attendance, after the Catholic Church.
However, Pentecostal Christians are often underrepresented in Census data. Having an accurate picture of who we are helps ensure our voice is represented in conversations around freedom of faith, freedom of speech, and issues affecting our churches, schools and families.
It’s simple: Question 24 is optional, but don’t skip it select “Other” and write “Pentecostal.”
We’re grateful for the freedom we have to follow Jesus and live out our faith in Australia.
Let’s make sure the Census reflects the reality of the Pentecostal Church in Australia that it’s alive, well and here to stay.
