The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – also the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests – is celebrated on the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. This suggests to us that the Eucharist (Corpus Christi) is none other than the Heart of Jesus himself, of the One who “takes care of us” with his “heart”.
Prayer
Divine Heart of Jesus,
I offer you through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Mother of the Church,
in union with the Eucharistic Sacrifice,
my prayers, actions, joys and sufferings of this day
in reparation for sins and for the salvation of all people,
in the grace of the Holy Spirit for the glory of the Heavenly Father.
Amen.

Clergy and parish staff from the western region parishes in our diocese gathered at St Agatha’s Parish in Cranbourne this morning to share the many good news stories happening in our parishes and talk about how they can work together and support each other for the benefit of our community.

The western region parishes of our diocese include St Agatha’s in Cranbourne, St Thomas the Apostle in Clyde North, Our Lady Help of Christians in Narre Warren, St Michael’s in Berwick, St Joseph’s in Iona, Holy Family in Maryknoll, St James in Nar Nar Goon, St John the Baptist in Koo Wee Rup, St Mary’s in Lang Lang and St Patrick’s in Pakenham.

Fr Michael Williemsen, Fr James Fernandez, and Sr Faustina Ede, who are all celebrating their silver jubilees this year were honoured, applauded and thanked for their 25 years of beautiful, faithful ministry to God's people.

The western region parishes gather about five to six times a year, and it is a great way to discuss our pastoral work and enjoy some fellowship together. Please keep all our clergy and parish staff in your prayers as they continue their ministry.

It was a powerful time of reflection as the community joined together in Eucharistic Adoration, lifting up intentions for future vocations across our Diocese.
Let us keep supporting those discerning their calling in our daily prayers.

Earlier this year the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference argued for a 5 per cent rise in the national minimum wage via a submission to the Fair Work Commission.
A pay rise of 4.75 per cent for almost three million workers is welcome.

Pray with the Pope
For the values of sport

A few days before one of the largest sporting events, the FIFA World Cup, Pope Leo XIV dedicates his June prayer intention to the values of sports, “to build communion and fraternity in history.” Through the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network’s “Pray with the Pope” campaign, the Pope encourages the faithful each month to join in praying for his intentions. Therefore, in June, he invites us to pray that sports might be a path of peace, encounter, and dialogue between cultures, promoting respect, solidarity, and the spirit of overcoming limits.

The values expressed in sports can unite people, break down barrier...
