SUNDAY SERMON: TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEART
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES
1 SAMUEL 16:6-7
MATTHEW 5:8
PROVERBS 4:23
GALATIANS 5:22-26
True Christianity lies in the heart, in the purity of the heart. God looks at our hearts to reward us, that is why it is important for us to take care of the state of our hearts. While men may look at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart. Our heart is the contact point for the Holy Spirit. Out of the heart flows the issues of life. Wrong thoughts lead to wrong actions and so you must take care of your heart. Take care of your heart because it is the foundation of all you do.
The battle of the ages is being constantly fought in our hearts. The battle against light and darkness, truth and lies, good and evil. To take care of our hearts, we must read and meditate on the Word of God daily. We must obey the Word of God at all times. God’s Word is the most effective instrument for change. If we cannot worship God who is a Spirit in the spirit, we miss the end of worship. Only the pure in heart shall see God.
The great thing God looks at and requires is the heart. The management of our hearts and its thoughts is fundamental to our faith and holy living. This is why we must take care of our hearts and meditate on the Word of God. We must take in the Word to keep out the world. We are only made spiritual by living in the Word and by the Word living in us. Emmanuel!
