150 Ways in 150 Days

On Mary Sumner Day the congregation at St John Baptist Lambton were thrilled to join in with Mothers Union celebrations. We took over the Sermon concluding with an activity and a member also led the Intercessions.

Each person present was given 2 pieces of ribbon and asked to tie a knot in each end whilst saying a small prayer of thanks for the support of our Mothers Union both in our branch and worldwide. We had 75 pieces of ribbon and they were tied in all sorts of ways, some being tied together, one with 5 knots instead of 2. Believe it or not we had at the end of the day 150 knots joined in a rather fantastic tassel which Rev’d Andrew Copper will bless and hang on our Lectern.

Our Anglican Women’s group will be gathering on the 1st of September. It should be a great morning of prayer, praise and connecting.
We are so grateful for the presence of the Anglican Women group in our parish!!

Great stuff at St John’s

We celebrated Mary Sumner Day on the 9th of August. Rev Phil celebrated the Eucharist for us but was relieved that MU members Sandra and Daphney shared a reflection on the work of MU and some very apt intercessions. MU President Janice and helpers decorated our space with much MU feel including beautiful blue butterflies. Janice also led us in a great knot tying prayer activity she will share with others beyond our walls.
A great celebration for 150 years of MU and 97 years of MU in our parish.

And the Great Walksend and Lambton Trivia Battle Spectacular tested the brains, fortitude and snack providing skill of a great group of folk from our two communities and beyond!! Welcome to Fr Anthony and folk from Kotara South!
Quiz master David and special invigilator Sarah set us on the path that drew on skills, knowledge and wild guessing… the Rector was proud to be part of the Soup Slurpers who won a ten for ten prize… sadly not for Biblical Knowledge … but they knew a lot about the Muppets.
Around $800 was raised for the Jackie Eye Clinic in Ghana… a great thing to support our Mission Giving for August through Anglican Aid Abroad.
Special mention to our wooden spooned Team Bin Chickens… but bragging right and the trophy went to the global stylings of Team Around the World.
