Spirit of the living God,
we come as your people, Pilgrims of the Spirit;
a Church on the move,
trusting that you are already at work among us.

Across this wide land,
and from our life together in Victoria and Tasmania,
we give thanks for the many ways your Spirit is stirring;
in congregations and communities,
in ministries of care, justice, and witness,
in voices both strong and quiet,
calling your Church forward.

You call us into relationship;
with one another, with this land,
and with the First Peoples who have held story, faith, and wisdom across generations.
Teach us to listen more deeply;
not only to what is familiar, but to the voices we have not yet fully heard.
Shape us as a covenant people,
committed to truth, shared responsibility, and faithful action.

Christ who gathers us,
you remind us that we are not who we are in isolation.
We belong to one another.
And so we ask:
where are we yet to listen?
Who is present among us, but not yet heard?
And what is your Spirit inviting your Church to become?

As Pilgrims of the Spirit,
lead us beyond what is known and comfortable,
into the wider life of your kingdom;
where diversity is honoured,
belonging is nurtured,
and unity is shaped in love.

Renew your Church,
that we may listen with humility,
walk with courage,
and share in your work of justice, healing, and hope.

And in this season of prayer,
bind us together as one;
one Church, many voices,
held in the grace of Christ,
and led always forward by your Spirit.

Amen.

Today, on the eve of a day where some people celebrate, others will lament, and another group will hold space to do both.

We hold in our minds and our hearts the tragedy and loss of such violent dispossession, that is the story of how we came to be First and Second peoples of these lands. We lament the unspeakable pain, the lost opportunities, and the brokenness that has been intergenerational.

We also give thanks for the resilience and the quiet strength of First Peoples. For their faith and their grace-filled willingness to share culture and hospitality.

We pray for Godโ€™s continued grace for each of us as we sit in the discomfort and continue to walk the journey of truth telling.

Our God delights in all of creation and longs for a time that all of creation, including all people will be healed and whole, fully reconciled to God and to each other. We join with this hope to see Godโ€™s justice and Godโ€™s peace in this place.

Hearts keep going outโ€ฆ

Today, on this national Day of Mourning, we come alongside all who grieve the devastating attack at Bondi Beach on 14 December 2025. We pause to remember those who lost their lives on that tragic day:

Matilda
Edith Brutman
Dan Elkayam
Boris and Sofia Gurman
Alexander Kleytman
Rabbi Yaakov Levitan
Peter Meagher
Reuven Morrison
Marika Pogany
Rabbi Eli Schlanger
Adam Smyth
Boris Tetleroyd
Tania Tretiak
Tibor Weitzen

We continue to pray for Godโ€™s comfort for their families and friends, and we stand in solidarity with all who mourn, particularly members of the Australian Jewish community.

We encourage the Church to pause tonight at 7.01pm, to light a candle and to ask God to reinvigorate Christ's love in us so that we can shine for Him in this world.

A prayer for early in the yearโ€ฆ

Some days we simply need to pause and breathe.
To let our hearts slow down, remember who we belong to, and ask for the courage to keep showing up with love and justice.

The life-giving God present in our lives.

The life-giving God present in our lives.

In a world marked by conflict and heartache, we give thanks that we can turn to Almighty God to shape our thoughts, words and actions.

We invite you to pause, reflect and pray today, asking the Holy Spirit to guide us all into lives of love and faithful witness.

Our hearts go out to all deeply affected by the devastating fires.
09/01/2026

Our hearts go out to all deeply affected by the devastating fires.

As bushfires continue to cause devastation in north-east Victoria, Moderator Rev Salesi Faupula has offered the following words:
"As fires continue across our region, involving North East Victoria Presbytery and spreading, the situation remains uncertain and we pause as a Church to wait together before God. We hold in prayer all who are at risk, all who have been displaced, and all who are responding to the ongoing emergency.

Faithful God,
As fires continue and the outcome remains uncertain,
we wait upon you.
Hold in your care all who are at risk,
all who have evacuated,
and all who watch and wait with anxious hearts.
Grant protection through the night and steadiness in the days ahead.
We pray for those responding to the fires:
give them strength, wisdom and safety
as conditions change and dangers persist.
In this time of waiting,
keep us attentive to one another,
rooted in compassion,
and trusting in your abiding presence.
Through Christ,
who walks with us in every trial.
Amen"
