Following extensive consultation across the Church, the revised Code strengthens guidance around accountability, cultural safety, Safe Church practices, professional boundaries, technology and wellbeing. It also recognises the diverse settings in which ministry takes place and the Churchโ€™s commitment to being an intercultural Church.

Scheduled to take effect from 1 January 2027, the revised Code seeks to equip ministry agents to exercise their calling faithfully, safely and with confidence.

Please share this important information:

On 27 July 2026, the Australian Government will send an emergency test alert to every compatible mobile device in Australia, called AusAlert. This national warning system is designed to communicate to Australians in case of emergencies.

The alert will make your device (phone, tablet and smartwatch) vibrate, play a loud siren for 10 seconds, and turn the screen on automatically. The alert will be loud, and cannot be opted out of.

The alert system is aimed to keep Australians safe during emergency disasters, but for people who are experiencing domestic and family violence and use a hidden phone for safety planning, the alert could cause possible harm or increased danger.

For anyone who feels that receiving the AusAlert will make you or your family member feel unsafe you will need to turn your mobile phone off or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave from off for at least an hour.

For more information and to find the schedule time in your location visit: https://www.ausalert.gov.au/ . .

If you are concerned about your immediate safety, call 000.

Happy NAIDOC Week 2026!

NAIDOC Week is a soul-deep celebration for Mob - a time to feast on the joy and pride of culture, and connect with community.

For non-Indigenous Australians, NAIDOC Week 2026 is a gracious and generous invitation into deeper partnership, deeper listening, and deeper celebration.

One of the best ways to celebrate NAIDOC Week is to show up, listen, learn, and join in community celebrations. Find a NAIDOC Week event near you and support the incredible work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the country.
