Fabulous fire bucket night held last night at Pilgrim with 60ish attendees sharing food, fun and fellowship. Plus a birthday - Happy Birthday Holly!🍰

We welcomed some neighbours from Pinaroo Village. We are sure the rest of the village heard the kids excitement once maximum blood sugar level was reached and the sparklers were lit. 🎇

Great fun had by all! If you missed it, watch out for the next edition.

The National Sorry Day commemorative ceremony will be held at the Sorry Rock, Wollundry Lagoon, at 10am on Tuesday 26 May.

The 2026 event will again feature our young people, with children and youth from our local schools presenting poems, songs, and sharing cultural dances.

In an extraordinary display of unity from Australia’s churches, all heads of major Christian denominations have come together to support Australian aid because it saves lives, prevents crises, and helps make our region safer for everyone.

This is a critical moment for Australian Aid and we need to take action now.

WCC mourns Jione Havea, “prophet of the Pacific”

Rev. Prof. Jione Havea, a Tongan Methodist theologian, biblical scholar, and pastor known for his work in contextual, postcolonial, and Pacific (Pasifika) theologies, passed away on 29 April.

WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay praised Havea’s legacy. "His sudden passing represents a great loss to the ecumenical movement,” said Pillay. “Havea helped to shift theology away from fixed systems and toward an ongoing, shared, and culturally grounded conversation, especially shaped by Pacific and marginalized voices. Indeed, his presence will be greatly missed but his words always remembered.”

With heavy hearts, we share a reflection from our President, Rev. Charissa Suli, on the passing of Rev Professor Dr Jione Havea — theologian, mentor, and faithful servant of the Church.

Jione was a son of the Pacific whose voice shaped how many across our Church read Scripture — honestly, prophetically, and through the lived realities of those too often pushed to the margins. He was a trusted companion to the UAICC - Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, a devoted colleague in the NSW/ACT Synod, and a teacher who helped generations of leaders trust that their stories matter in the life of the Church.

His loss is felt deeply — personally, culturally, and theologically.
We hold in prayer his wife Monica, his daughter Diya Lakai, the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga, and all who mourn him across our Church and around the world.

In our Pacific understanding, when one of our own is called home, they are not lost — they are returned. Returned to God, to the ancestors, and to the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us.
