"All things work together for good"
Romans 8:28: Some of you may have dug into that verse as far as a source of comfort in difficult times. And it's a very comforting verse. But first things first, to understand this verse well, context is always important for verses and the context for Rom 8:28 is suffering. And Paul starts this portion of his letter saying this in V18. This is how he starts this section that's almost Rom 8:28 is kind of at the centre of. So he admits, we're subjected to frustration. We're living a life of frustration here. We're groaning inwardly. And you can look up and if you were to read from v18 down, you're going to see that inwardly we're groaning, wishing that suffering wasn't our reality, but it is. We wish it wasn't. But it's our reality. And sometimes we suffer so deeply. This is what Paul is saying from v18-28. So we have to read these verses from the perspective of a genuine believer because what Paul is saying is as a believer God has a plan to conform you to the image of Jesus. That's what Paul is saying here in this section. And so God has a plan to conform the believer, to conform you to the image of Jesus. This is the purpose for which you've been called that Paul says in v28.
