Hervey Bay Bible Church

Hervey Bay Bible Church Sunday at 9:30am. Urangan Community Centre, Elizabeth and, Miller St,
Urangan QLD 4655 Hervey Bay Bible Church (HBBC) is a non-denominational fellowship.

We are a diverse group of believers passionate about God. Our purpose is to glorify the Triune God of the Bible through worship that is revealed as acceptable to Him, by evangelizing sinners, and by edifying his saints. Therefore, we are committed to the proclamation of the glorious gospel of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, on account of Christ alone, and “to contend earnestly for t

he faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints.”
Our heart as a church is to be ever reforming towards our goal of glorifying God and eternally enjoying Him. We believe that God is most glorified as His Word is powerfully preached, His majesty is reverentially worshipped, His saints are conformed into the image of His Son, His Gospel is zealously proclaimed to the lost, and His benevolence is ministered to those in need. What Can One Expect from a Sunday Service? We believe God must be the central focus of all worship. The Bible provides the basic outline for how God desires to be worshipped when believers come together on the Lord’s Day; that is, through preaching of God’s Word, fellowship, the Lord’s Table, prayer, and singing. We believe the Bible emphasizes the greatness and holiness of God which should cause us to worship Him respectfully and reverently, to be balanced with the salvation and love of God which should cause us to worship joyfully and confidently! We would love for you to visit and please let us know how we can be a help to you! Should you have any questions at any time, you are most welcome to contact Chris: [email protected]

Christian asked Hopeful, “What finally broke you from your guilt and shame?”

Hopeful replied, “Your good friend Faithful told me, ‘Unless you can obtain the righteousness of a man that had never sinned, all of the good deeds that I ever did could never save me.”

Christian said, “And did you ask him what man this was?”

Hopeful responded, “Yes, he told me his name was Jesus.”

Hopeful said, “I began to reason with myself: ‘All my righteousness are as filthy rags and no man can be made righteous by obeying the law (Galatians 2;16). If I was in debt to the bank for $100,000 and by reformed ways began to pay for things as I went—I would still be debt for $100,000.

I thought to myself, I have by my sins run a great way into God’s score and by reforming now will not pay off that debt. This weighed heavily upon me.

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 1:3

"All things work together for good"

Romans 8:28: Some of you may have dug into that verse as far as a source of comfort in difficult times. And it's a very comforting verse. But first things first, to understand this verse well, context is always important for verses and the context for Rom 8:28 is suffering. And Paul starts this portion of his letter saying this in V18. This is how he starts this section that's almost Rom 8:28 is kind of at the centre of. So he admits, we're subjected to frustration. We're living a life of frustration here. We're groaning inwardly. And you can look up and if you were to read from v18 down, you're going to see that inwardly we're groaning, wishing that suffering wasn't our reality, but it is. We wish it wasn't. But it's our reality. And sometimes we suffer so deeply. This is what Paul is saying from v18-28. So we have to read these verses from the perspective of a genuine believer because what Paul is saying is as a believer God has a plan to conform you to the image of Jesus. That's what Paul is saying here in this section. And so God has a plan to conform the believer, to conform you to the image of Jesus. This is the purpose for which you've been called that Paul says in v28.

Christian continued, “After being awakened to your sin, what did you do then?”

Hopeful responded, “ I ran from not only my sins, but from bad companions as well. I started doing a lot of religious duties like: praying, reading the Bible, speaking the truth to my neighbors…and too many things to relate.”

Christian asked, “Did you think yourself better then?”

Hope answered, “For a little while; but my trouble came tumbling back upon me.”

Christian asked, “What would bring your sins to mind again?”

“When I would meet a righteous man in the street, or if I heard a strong scripture, or if I heard that someone died or thought of dying myself—But especially, when I thought of myself, that I must quickly come before the Judgment Day where all my sin has been recorded.”

Christian asked Hopeful, “And what was the first working of God upon you?”

Hopeful replied, “He awakened me to the sin in my life. Sin was sweet to me my flesh and I hated the idea of leaving it. However, the hours of conviction upon my heart were almost more than I could bear. I desired to leave the sin but then I would return to it even worse than before.”

Christian began, “How did you come to begin this journey?”

Hope replied, “I continued a great while in loving those things which were seen and sold in Vanity Fair. I believe those things, had I continued in them, would have carried me to my damnation.”

Christian asked, “What things were they?”

Hope answered, “All the treasures and riches of the world. Also I delighted much in reveling, drinking, swearing, lying, uncleanness of mind and practice, using Jesus’ name in vain, and what not.”

He continued, “I understood that because of those things, the wrath of God was upon children of disobedience. But I found at last, by hearing and considering the truth from heaven that you spoke at Vanity Fair that I was in need of a Savior.”

“Had I been here alone, I would have fallen asleep on this enchanted ground and run the danger of death. I see it is true what the wise man said

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

Christian replied, “To prevent drowsiness in this place, let’s have a good conversation.”
