Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Catholic Parish

Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Catholic Parish Our three worship centres have around 1400 people gathering each weekend. There are also six centres of retirement/aged care.

Three worshipping communities of St Bernard's (Upper Mt Gravatt), St Catherine's (Wishart) and St Martin's (Eight Mile Plains), form the new parish of Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Catholic Parish. We have two Catholic primary schools and a large Catholic Co-educational secondary college within our boundaries. We continue to provide a range of pastoral, educational, liturgical and outreach services.

One of the kindest things you can do for someone is pray for them. Not because you have all the answers. Not because you can fix everything they're facing. But because God sees the battles that remain hidden from everyone else. The struggles never mentioned. The fears carried quietly. The burdens hidden behind a smile. Sometimes the greatest act of love is simply bringing someone's name before God and trusting Him to meet them where you cannot. 🙌

So today, take a moment to pray for a friend, a family member, a neighbor, or someone God places on your heart. You may never know how much they needed it. And if you're looking for ways to deepen your own prayer life and spend more intentional time with God, we invite you to explore our free weekly devotional, worship playlists, Guided Moments With God, and devotionals. Each one is designed to help you slow down, draw near to God, and experience His presence in everyday life. Everything is linked in our bio. 🤍

SAVE THE DATE!
All are welcome to join a movie and morning tea event hosted by the Parish RAP Group at 11am on Sunday, 5 July in the Aspinall Centre.

We will watch a documentary which follows the story of a young boy forcibly removed from his family in Nambour and sent to a remote island in North Queensland in 1945 due to a skin condition, along with many other First Nations and Pacific Islander children.

The documentary also features the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, the Catholic nuns who lived on the island and dedicated their lives to caring for children on the island.

For more information or to RSVP please contact Louise at [email protected].

On Thursday, 28 May our Parish held an ecumenical service for National Reconciliation Week. The service, which was lead by Fr. Rony and Fr. Arun, included prayers for reconciliation, reflections on the theme of reciprocity and a beautiful musical setting created by the Parish choir. First Nations parishioners and people from other areas of Brisbane joined us for the service to create a truly special event which opened our hearts and minds.

~ The stillness of faith ~

Dip my weakness into your
strong pulsing heart.

I will hide here, all quiet
where your chest enfolds me.

I will listen to your rhythm
moor me to the calm of you.

I will sit in the stillness of faith
and find my beating heart.

I will find my beating heart
in your heart.
