Hot take: most of the congregation would rather hear your children during Mass than not hear them at all because you decided to keep them away 🔥
We want to extend a big thank you to every parent out there who brings their children to Mass every Sunday. Thank you for allowing your children to be a part of our community. Thank you for bringing them to meet Jesus. We get it. It's not always easy. But parenting rarely is. We invest so much in our childrens education, their physical health, their hobbies etc. But the most important investment we can ever make is in their spiritual health.
On Sunday, we heard the parable of the wedding banquet. Every Mass is a banquet where we are invited by the King himself to come along. No need to bring a plate, everything is provided. He just wants us to come. And His invitation is for EVERYONE. He doesn't ask us to leave the kids at home until they are old enough to understand or behave appropriately.
At St Mary’s, we have so many ways to help engage children including altar serving, Children's Liturgy of the Word, school holiday programs, nativity plays and monthly family gatherings. But we also welcome families with children along to our other events such as our upcoming Worship night and connect groups, Multicultural Celebration and rosary processions. We provide babysitting for Alpha participants.
You are invited. The banquet is prepared. You are required to bring absolutely nothing but your family, even in all its messiness. The question is, will you accept the invitation?
