Sam Thomson is already a living legend at Blackwood Hills Baptist Church where he has been Youth Pastor for nearly 50 years, and at Schools Ministry Group as SA’s longest serving school chaplain at Blackwood High School for over 35 years.

Sam has mentored generations of young people, and shared Jesus with thousands in his own unique and humble way (often involving some form of camping, hunting, or traveling).

Today he has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal in the King’s Birthday Honours for “service to youth through pastoral care” (which honestly sounds like an understatement to us!)

Congratulations Sam. Your life and ministry is a testimony to God’s grace and a model of faithfulness.

Our friends at BaptistCare SA are sharing, celebrating, and raising funds for the amazing work of with a high tea at the Adelaide Pavilion this morning.

You might have missed out on some delicious treats, but you can join in supporting this wonderful work of providing safety and dignity for women experiencing homelessness and escaping domestic, family and sexual violence.
