We are thrilled to introduce a new member of our Heaven Funerals team: Faitau Luteru Reupena. Faitau is a qualified embalmer of Australia Institution of Embalming and will also serve as our first bilingual Samoan Funeral Director. We couldn't be happier to have him on board.

For 11 years, the Samoan community has entrusted us with the care of hundreds of families. With Faitau's addition, we can now assist future families in their native language.

Faitau is highly respected within the Samoan, Tongan and wider Polynesian community. With years of experience helping those in need, he comes from a family rooted in faith. He has a beautiful spirit and serves families with love, patience, kindness, and diligence. Keep an eye out for him in the coming years.

A few weeks ago I shared that I had sourced some coffin linings from home, New Zealand.

We have been privileged to use one of the trims today. Paua trimmed Cadbury Purple coffin painted for us by another Kiwi small business owner.

The family were over the moon with their one off coffin, prepared within 2 days of the families request.

Beautiful waka/coffin created to envelop another Kiwi who is heading home to Aotearoa tomorrow.

Sometimes we meet people in our journey who bring something special into our lives.

Meet Rob Briggs, owner of Inspired by His creation and HANDCRAFTED by Rob Briggs.

Rob introduced himself to our business with the intention of offering beautiful wooden ash urns to the families we serve. After a brief discussion I realised that he could help us by creating one of a kind "Sand Boxes" for us to use at burials. Often families want to scatter soil or sand over their loved ones coffin after they have been lowered into their final resting place.

From now of we can have that ritual performed by families using our beautiful one off boxes lovingly crafted by Rob.

It may only be a small thing...but it shows that we try to make every step of your loved ones' final journey beautiful.

Yesterday we were asked to assist a beautiful Sikh family who wanted to have their beloved Father cremated that same day. They had been told by multiple other Funeral Homes that is was not possible, then they called us. Keep in mind that their Father had only passed away at 3am and I received the call at 9am.

We have recently launched our tailor made Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool which enables us to do all of the Authority to Release and Cremation paperwork remotely. As a result we were able to get all of the preparation done within 40 mins of taking the initial call.

Next we were able to liaise with the amazing people at the Ipswich Hospital, Heritage Park Crematorium and our own internal team. With their help, we were able to get all the necesary documents and logistics done in record time.

By 1.00pm we had our client at his family home, enabling the family to perform their important farewell rituals. By 3.30pm we were at the Heritage Park Crematorium for a brief, yet beautiful service and at 3.45pm we witnessed the insertion into the cremator.

I need to say that this case is a long way from normal, but it shows that with the right teams, the right technology and with the right attitude, even the seemingly impossible can be done.

On a recent trip I took back to New Zealand, I visited with a Funeral Industry supplier to source some unique mortuary instruments and coffin drapery.

The instruments will help to speed up the embalming process. Especially where the deceased has had a post-mortem/autopsy.

It was nice to see some options from home and be able to bring them to Brisbane to offer to our New Zealand Maori families/whanau.

For years now we have had the beautiful carved coffins and caskets on offer. Now we can dress them with some more unique designs from Aotearoa. Ratana colour, Maui beige, koru frond, paua blue and red koru.

Glad to be able to offer these options to those who really want to go the extra mile for their deceased loved ones.

In the last week we have had some "lovely" person/people steal from us at work. We have lost a tailor made hearse cover, the locks from our lock box and lastly our copper pipe to our mortuary was cut and sections stolen. Honestly!!?? Go get a job and stop taking from hard working people.
