Celebrating the Life of Joshua Roni Fairchild Brunt
Josh was like no person any of us have ever met. Josh lived a life of integrity. He was uninterested in small talk, so every interaction was meaningful and edifying. Josh was thoughtful with his siblings, loyal to his friendships, and frank with everyone. He loved to read and was passionate about writing. He loved anime and fan fiction. He was a scholar and an intellectual.
As a boy, Josh became obsessed with sailing and grew up in the Otago Harbour on a Bic.
When asked about going to church, Josh said, “If the mountains were good enough for Moses, then they’re good enough for me,” and spent as much time in the mountains as possible. His third home (behind his parents and aunties) was the Silver Peaks, and his fourth was the pub.
Josh loved meeting new people and trying new things. He found motorbikes a few years ago and never looked back.
Kaua e mate wheke, mate ururoa "Do not die like an octopus, die like a hammerhead shark,"
Josh died doing what he loved: making new friends, exploring new places, and riding his motorbike.
Saying we will miss him doesn’t quite capture how we feel. Our lives will never be the same.
Family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing Josh are invited to join us as we celebrate his life.
