Today, for our fourteenth Advent 2025 reflection, Safina Stewart shares a painting reflecting on Mary’s tender encounter with God’s messenger - where love breaks through in a brave, openhearted “yes” that changes everything.

NSW Moderator David King has made this statement in response to yesterday's attack upon the Jewish Hannukah celebration at Bondi.

With broken hearts we ask you to pray with with us.

God of all comfort,
We grieve the tragic loss of lives yesterday at Bondi Beach.
Please comfort those who grieve and all who have been impacted by this event.
We pray for the recovery of those who have been injured
and for the families of victims in their deep sadness.
We pray for the safety of the Jewish community.
We thank you for the police, first responders, and medical personnel,
and mental health professionals.
Please be with them in the coming days and weeks.
We pray for those who continue to be distressed
by these traumatic circumstances.
We are confused and distressed by violent and senseless acts in our city.
We cast all our anxieties on you, knowing that you care for us.
We pray for peace and justice.
Please turn our hearts to your Son,
that we may find our rest in him,
and hasten the day when peace and justice reign.
Come, Lord Jesus, come. Amen.
