Our fellowship meetings are held monthly on the first Saturday of each month at Burnside City Uniting Church, 384 Portrush Road, Tusmore SA 5065. Our Beginnings
Sri Lankan Christian Fellowship began as a simple gathering of young Christian families in a home in October 1989 in Adelaide, South Australia. The group first met to listen to a man of God from India who was visiting Adelaide, and a few
days later they gathered again to pray for a young family in great need of prayer and support. In this group was a humble, unassuming man, whose only pride was his unshakable faith in the God of the Bible, and along with his wife and their two children they started a journey holding hands with the other Sri Lankan Christians from various denominational backgrounds. Coming from a war-torn country in the 1980s, these Christians were familiar with pain and suffering, feelings of despair and hopelessness, but in the midst of many uncertainties and challenges they knew the sure path of finding hope, comfort, strength, healing, joy and peace. Worshiping God whose unfailing love has sustained them through all their troubles was as easy as breathing, and their most natural response in the face of issues in life. These men and women were also the blessed fruits of God’s kingdom, born out of the great missionary and evangelistic work done by the foreign Missionaries in Sri Lanka. As new migrants to Australia, these men and women, most of whom were from the Northern City of Jaffna had very little of this world at the time, but they knew their God, with whom everything is possible. So, they worshipped Him faithfully and fervently, and God blessed them with heavenly blessings well beyond their wildest of dreams. We are the “Sri Lankan Christian Fellowship” – the first gathering of Sri Lankan believers in Jesus Christ in Adelaide, South Australia.
