• Be careful to observe confidentiality and privacy in electronic communications – for example, do not publish the names, contact details or other personal information of people online.
• Be considerate. Remember that your peers cannot see your body language or hear your tone of voice, so you need to keep your language direct and respectful.
• Avoid slang, jargon, and sarcasm. Some slang or jargon terms may be familiar to you, but not to others. Sarcasm is negative and can lead to rifts in what is meant to be a comfortable, safe online forum.
• Sharing an opposing opinion or idea is an important part of discussion, but it needs to be presented in constructive manner that encourages further discussion rather than shutting it down.
• Do not use all caps when writing. It is interpreted as yelling. Copyrighted and trademarked material
Copyrighted or trademarked material may not be posted on this page without the expressed permission of its author or owner. Brief excerpts or paraphrases of other written material may be posted, but should be cited or hyperlinked back to the original, third-party article or excerpt. Please be aware that material submitted to the page for inclusion will be vetted for its appropriateness to the page and our community. Images and Media
Media images and recordings are vital means of communicating the story of our church. They provide a visual insight into our rich community faith life and add an extra dimension to the information we provide to our members and visitors. We would like to share media items recorded at our various ministry activities, events and programs in church-produced materials. These materials will adhere to the following:
o No identifying information will accompany photos (including names, addresses, email addresses, or family members’ names)
o Anyone may request a particular media item which prominently features them or their children aged under 18 be removed by Admins on the page. At events those taking photos will ask for permission to take photos beforehand. These photos are not to be used for anything other than to celebrate the event or program and may not be used for marketing purposes. o At events involving children under the age of 18, blanket permission will be sought when children sign up to events (such as Christmas Eve Workshop) and these permissions will be strictly observed when posting on Facebook. User content
Turramurra Uniting Church has the right to remove and/or disallow user submitted content to our page for any reason including contravention of the above codes of conduct.
