Good Evening All
I'm sure you are aware of the current pandemic Australia and the world is facing.
Parish Council have been keeping abreast of the situation, and have also been kept informed by the LCA and LCA Queensland District.
This evening we received further advice on what we could/should be doing to care for our congregations.
Today the Government has also mandated further controls on gatherings.
Parish Council met this evening and in light of the current situation resolved to suspend all public gatherings at St Pauls Townsville.
THERE WILL BE NO SUNDAY SERVICES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE (starting 22/03/2020)
THERE WILL BE NO MENS BREAKFAST THIS SATURDAY (21/03/2020)
Pastor will be in touch with the Confirmation Class and the Worship team regarding their scheduled meetings.
Whilst we may not make the 100 person threshold the government has nominated, this decision is based on the following
Several of our members are already self isolating due to their individual circumstances
the demographic of our congregation includes a proportion of those who may be at a greater risk, and this could be exacerbated by interacting with other members
the Layout of the Church Plant does not allow us to manage the recommended "social distancing" between persons of 1.5m
IMPORTANT PLEASE
Some members do not have email.
If you know someone who wont be able to receive this email, can you please reply with their address and or phone number so that we can ensure we can keep in contact with them.
We may already have that information, but we may not.
I'd rather receive multiple emails with information I already have, than someone slips through the cracks
There will be more information over the next few days outlining how we plan to keep all of us in touch with each other.
For now , please stay safe, stay in contact and ask for assistance if you need it.
You can reply to this email, or contact the church on one of the following numbers.

Please leave a message if your call is not answered.
I conclude with QLD District Bishop Pauls Smiths closing statement from his March 12th Response Guidance:-
"...... In all our undertakings as people of the Lutheran Church of Australia, Queensland District, we hold fast to the promise that our Lord Christ Jesus dwells amongst us, providing for us and leading us.
He is "Immanuel: God with us" therefore, we call upon him as people of hope, in prayer, praise and thanksgiving, trusting in his mercy and in his steadfast love.
We pray,
"Kyrie eleison. Lord have mercy."
