Dr Shang and Father Nanda have both generously given their time to share their knowledge and insights with the community.

Dr Shang spoke on acupuncture — its history, benefits, and its role as an alternative treatment option for those seeking the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach to wellbeing.

Father Nanda from St Matthew’s Church, Crows Nest, delivered a thoughtful and insightful talk on the Theology of Fasting, highlighting its spiritual significance, personal benefits, and the deeper meaning it brings to one’s faith journey.

Both talks will be aired on our *Voices of Faith* program on Radio 102.7 FM this June. Stay tuned and don’t miss these enriching conversations!

A monthly talk on Moral Values was recently held as a joint initiative between the Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group (TIWG) and the Muslim community.

The session, presented by Imam Amin from the Toowoomba Mosque, focused on the theme of Universal Moral Values and encouraged thoughtful reflection on the shared principles that unite humanity across cultures and faiths.

The evening concluded with a simple shared meal.

The Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group (TIWG) met on Wednesday, 6 May for its monthly meeting. A major focus of the discussion was the program for the upcoming International Peace Conference 2026, to be held on 29 August under the theme: “Shared Humanity, Shared Responsibility.”

We are pleased to confirm that all speakers for the conference have now been secured. It promises to be a meaningful and engaging event, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives. We encourage everyone to register for the conference, meet the speakers, and take part in the important conversations ahead.

The Peace Committee recently met to discuss plans for the Peace Summit, which will be held on 10 October 2026. The committee is currently in discussions to bring a renowned peace advocate as the keynote speaker for the event.

The summit is shaping up to be a dynamic and engaging program, with many opportunities for participants to share their views, ideas, and experiences. We look forward to bringing the community together for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

MMC PLLCA was honoured to be invited to the Queensland Police Service Annual Eid Dinner. Representing MMC were two of our youth members.

The warm hospitality extended by the Queensland Police Service made everyone feel truly welcomed and valued. The evening brought together faith leaders, community representatives, and members of the police service in a spirit of friendship, understanding, and mutual respect.

This gathering stands as a testament to the trusted and positive relationship between the police and the wider community. It was indeed a memorable and meaningful night.

What a joy it was to catch up with retired Reverend Jed Perkins, a founding member of the Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group (TIWG). A person of great wisdom and compassion, Jed embodies inspirational leadership through his humility and sincerity.

Our conversations are always enriching—even when we hold different perspectives, there is mutual respect and a genuine joy in dialogue. Jed remains an active member of TIWG, and we are grateful for his continued presence and friendship.

Thank you, Jed, for being such a valued friend of Pure Land.
