Multicultural Mass Feast of the Holy Trinity
Today St Thomas More Parish celebrated a joyful Multicultural Mass for the Feast of the Holy Trinity.
We began with the sound of the bagpipes leading the entrance procession followed by an Acknowledgement of Country by Narelle, our First Nations representative paying respect to the traditional custodians of this land and to Elders past and present.
Andrea Gatfield, Multicultural Ministry Coordinator welcomed everyone and thanked all who contributed to this special celebration.
We are grateful for the Parish Choir, Derek Margaret and Michael, the Vietnamese Choir, Filipino Choir, Indonesian Choir and Burundi African Choir for their beautiful music which helped us pray and celebrate together. We give thanks as well to Tom Hodgson for his help and support with the multicultural communities music.
The First Reading was proclaimed in German and the Second Reading in Irish. The Responsorial Psalm was sung beautifully by Ivy from the Filipino community. The Prayers of the Faithful were offered in Australian English, Spanish, Malayalam, Lebanese Arabic, Burundian, Vietnamese, Indonesian , Swahili, and Fijian.
We also sincerely thank the PowerPoint team especially our Indonesian family Albert Veronika Lilo and Lila for their support in helping the liturgy flow smoothly. And to Lish & Julius for organising the powerpoint.
We also thank our Parish Communion Ministers for their reverent and generous service in helping bring the Body of Christ to our community with care and devotion.
In his homily Fr Brian Redondo reflected on the mystery of the Holy Trinity, one God in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He reminded us that although this mystery is beyond full human understanding, it calls us into a life of love unity and relationship.
The Trinity shows us that unity does not mean sameness. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are distinct yet perfectly united in love. In the same way our parish is made up of many cultures and languages yet we are one family in Christ.
Today’s celebration was a beautiful sign of that truth
We are many cultures
We are many languages
We are many stories
Yet we are one faith
One God
One family in Christ
One parish
One Australia
As part of the St Thomas More Parish Strategic Plan to be a welcoming community. this Mass reminds us that our diversity is a gift that strengthens our parish life
Thank you to all who participated assisted and supported this celebration. Your presence and contribution made it a truly prayerful and joyful occasion.
A Multicultural Mass is a living sign that the Church is alive and that God gathers people from every nation into one family
