EID AL-ADHA PRAYER REMINDER – FOR TOMORROW
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, dear brothers and sisters.
A gentle reminder that Eid Al-Adha Salah will be held at the Toowoomba Garden City Mosque tomorrow. Please see the important details below and help us maintain a smooth, safe, and spiritually uplifting gathering for everyone.

🕕 Program Timing:
• Takbir Begins: 6:40 AM
• Lining Up for Salah: 6:55 AM
• Eid Salah Starts: 7:00 AM sharp
⚠️ Important Arrangements & Reminders:
• Men/Boys will pray in the Mosque Building
• Women/Girls will pray in the Hall Building
• The front car park will be closed
• Please perform wudu from home if possible
• Carpooling is highly recommended due to limited parking
• Please bring two separate plates of food to share among brothers and sisters after the prayer, if possible
• Help keep the mosque premises clean and tidy
• Strictly no illegal parking on surrounding streets or inside the premises
(Council patrol and parking fines may occur).
May Allah SWT accept our worship, sacrifices, and good deeds during these blessed days and grant peace and barakah to all families.

Month of Dhul Hijjah, Day of Arafah & Eid Al-Adha

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, dear beloved community.
The official announcement regarding the commencement of the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafah, and Eid Al-Adha has now been made by the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC).

Today, Monday, 18 May 2026, will be the 1st day of Dhul Hijjah.
Accordingly:
• Day of Arafah: Tuesday, 26 May 2026
• Eid Al-Adha: Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

Let us continue to maximise these blessed first ten days of Dhul Hijjah through various good deeds, worship, dhikr, dua, charity, fasting, and sincere repentance, as they are among the best days of the year.

13th Annual Tooowoomba Int'l Food Festival and Garden City Mosque Open Day 2026

Assalamu Alaikum - Peace be upon you. Please be reminded, Annual Mosque Open Day and Int'l Food Festival is on Saturday, 20 June 2026, 10:30am - 3:00pm. Formal session will be 11:00am - 1:00pm. Your family, friends and neighbours, all are cordially invited. There will be activities for women and fun for children (including jumping castle) along with delicious food from different countries. A number of dignitaries will speak in the event. A rare handwritten copy of the century-old (AH 1329-1330/1911 CE) Qur’an by Hasan Riza Hatti from Türkiye will be displayed on the day. EID AL-FITR ANNOUNCEMENT
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, dear respected members of our beloved community.
The Australian National Imams Council has officially announced that Eid Al-Fitr (1st of Shawwal) will be observed on Friday, 20 March 2026.
As our community follows this trusted national body, the Toowoomba Muslim community will, InshaAllah, celebrate Eid on the same day (Friday).
Eid Mubarak in advance to everyone. May Allah (SWT) accept our fasting, prayers, charity, and all acts of worship during the blessed month of Ramadan.
The details of the Eid Salah at the Garden City Mosque will be circulated shortly, InshaAllah.

STARTING OF THE MONTH OF RAMADAN 2026/1447
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah. Ramadan Mubarak. Alhamdulillah. As we follow one of the authentic pick Australian Muslim Organisations (Australian National Imams Council), following it's decision, Islamic Society of Toowoomba and its Garden City Mosque community will commence the Holy month of Ramadan 1447 on Thursday, 19 February 2026 (1st Ramadan), InshaAllah. That means, Taraweeh prayer will start at Ishaa at night after the sunset of Wednesday, 18 February, InshaAllah. May Allah SWT bless us all, and may He SWT accept our fasting and worship during this month. Thanks and Jazakumullahu Khairan.

Commencement of The Holy Month of Ramadan I 1447H – 2026

Following extensive consultations with the Imams from the Australian Fatwa Council, the Grand M***i of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad wishes to make the following statement regarding the Holy Month of Ramadan 1447H - 2026 for all the Australian states and territories:

Firstly, in Sydney, the sun will set on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, at 7:45 pm (AEST), while the new moon for the month of Ramadan will be born at 11:01 pm on the same night. In Perth, the sun will set on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, at 7:04 pm (AWST), while the new moon for the month of Ramadan will be born at 8:01 pm. This means that the new moon will be born after sunset in Australia, and the month of Ramadan cannot commence on that night. Therefore:

The Holy Month of Ramadan for this year 1447H- 2026 will commence on Thursday, 19 February 2026

The first night of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Taraweeh Prayer will be on Wednesday, 18th February 2026, after Sunset (After Isha)

Secondly, the method by which the Grand M***i of Australia and the Australian Fatwa Council determine the commencement of the month of Ramadan is based on the timing of the birth of the new moon of the month of Ramadan in relation to sunset. If the new moon is born after sunset, the month cannot commence on that evening.

The Australian National Imams Council and the Australian Fatwa Council acknowledge, understand and respect the Imams and scholars who may hold different opinions, and request all Muslims to respect the different opinions on this matter and work towards the unity of the Muslim community in preserving the common values and interests that they all have and share.

Finally, The Grand M***i of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad and the Australian National Imams Council call upon all Muslims to preserve their fasting whilst supplicating to Allah to protect our countries, spread peace, blessings and security around the world, and alleviate the suffering and hardships of all people and Muslims are facing, in particular our brothers and sisters in Gaza – Palestine.

May Allah bless this Holy Month for you, your family, the Australian Muslim community and the entire Muslim world and may your worship and fasting be accepted this year. AMEEN
