Majed Ileh MYM community,

With great love for you all, my time at Our Lady of Lebanon and as the youth chaplain for the Maronite Youth of Melbourne has come to an end.

In accordance with His Excellency, Bishop Antoine Charbel Tarabay, the Antonine Monks pastoral ministry is no longer required at Our Lady of Lebanon as the time for a new parish in Melbourne, our mission at St Charbel Village in Greenvale, is soon to commence.

It has been nearly three joyful and fruitful years of service to you all and I have been blessed within this ministry. I will savour every memory with you all and I am grateful to God for this opportunity to have been a chaplain and brother to you all. It has been a special experience working with you, your families, and the parish.

Thank you for all your support and for being wonderful members of the MYM community. We grew spiritually, socially and charitably with one another, and all success is thanks to your collaborative efforts, but more importantly, to God. I thank the youth committee for all of their dedication and support during the past few years. It is through their devotion that we were able to succeed and flourish in faith, hope and love.

I would like to assure you that I am always here to support you in anyway you need. Lastly, I wish the MYM the very best moving forward with their new chaplain. May the Holy Spirit continue to be a guiding light as you lead the future of our church.

I ask you all to keep me in your prayers as I begin this new mission. Be assured of my prayers for you and your families, always.

Blessed Feast Day of Estephan Nehme ✨

Born in Lehfed, on March 8th, 1889, his parents named him Youssef. Growing up, he preferred to not to be very sociable, even among family.

He preferred to stay at home and pray late at night. Afterwards, he went to bed and repeated:
“God can see me, God can see me. Jesus, Mary and Saint Joseph, help me at the moment of death.”

Brother Estephan was a “worker monk”. He worked in the fields and gardens of the monastery, carrying his childhood motto of “God sees me” in all his efforts. Brother Estephan had a pious life that ended virtuously at the Monastery of Saints Cyprian and Justine in Kfifan, Lebanon, on August 30th, 1938.

Brother Estephan was buried in the tomb of monks in the monastery of Kfifane. On March 10th, 1951, while monks were burying the late Father Youssef Souraty who spent his sunset in this convent, they found the body of Brother Estephan non decayed.

Blessed Feast Day of St. Monica of Hippo ✨

Saint Monica, also known as Monica of Hippo, is St. Augustine of Hippo's mother. She is the patron Saint of mothers.

When she was very young, she was married off to the Roman pagan Patricius, who shared his mother's violent temper. Patricius' mother lived with the couple and the duo's temper flares proved to be a constant challenge to young Monica.

Augustine rejected the Church and Christian life.
St. Ambrose helped her convert Augustine to Christianity following his seventeen-year resistance.

Prayer to St. Monica 🤲🏼

St. Monica,

I need your prayers.

You know exactly how I'm feeling because you once felt it yourself.

I'm hurting, hopeless, and in despair.

I desperately want my child to return to Christ in his Church but I can't do it alone.

I need God's help.

Please join me in begging the Lord's powerful grace to flow into my child's life.

Ask the Lord Jesus to soften his heart, prepare a path for his conversion, and activate the Holy Spirit in his life.

Amen.

Feast of the Queenship of Mary 👑 ✨

On August 22, the Church celebrates the Queenship of Mary, recognizing her as the Queen of Heaven and Earth.

The feast day was established by Pope Pius XII in his encyclical Ad Coeli Reginam, in which he called her the “Lord Queen of Heaven and earth…exalted above all chairs of Angels and the ranks of the Saints in Heaven, standing at the right hand of Her only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.”

He urged Catholics to bring their troubles and sorrows to Mary and seek her intercession.

Prayer in honour of the Queenship of Mary 🤲🏼

O Mary Immaculate Queen, look down upon this distressed and suffering world. You know our misery and our weakness. O thou who art our Mother, saving us in the hour of peril, have compassion on us in these days of great and heavy trial.

Jesus has confided to you the treasure of His grace, and through you He wills to grant us pardon and mercy. In these hours of anguish, therefore, your children come to you as their hope.

We recognize your Queenship and ardently desire your triumph. We need a Mother and a Mother's Heart.

You are for us the luminous dawn which dissipates our darkness and points out the way to life. In your clemency obtain for us the courage and the confidence of which we have such need.

Most Holy and Adorable Trinity, You Who did crown with glory in Heaven the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Savior, grant that all her children on earth may acknowledge her as their Sovereign Queen, that all hearts, homes, and nations may recognize her rights as Mother and as Queen.

✨ Blessed Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary ✨

The Assumption is God's crowning of His work as Mary ends her earthly life and enters eternity.

On November 1, 1950, Pius XII defined the dogma of the Assumption. Thus he solemnly proclaimed that the belief whereby the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the close of her earthly life, was taken up, body and soul, into the glory of heaven, definitively forms part of the deposit of faith, received from the Apostles.

•• Prayer for the Assumption of Mary ••

Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
