Loved all the creativity on display at this years Psalms Concert! So many amazing pieces from members of our church, including kids and youth. What a stunning way to meditate on God’s word in the Psalms.

Our tips for engaging well with the weekly sermon! A super important time in the week when we listen to God speak to us.

📖 Grab a physical Bible if you get distracted on your phone. It also helps you to see where the sermon passage fits in the bigger Bible story. We have plenty but you can always BYO!

🖍️ Check out our new sermon cart in the welcoming foyer! All youth and adults can take a resource to help you listen well. See what works for you!

📝 Sermon note sheets are available in the sermon cart. These are great as they come with prompts to help your active listening. Or BYO notebook!

☕️ Please feel free to bring things to help yourself be comfy as you listen to God speak through his word. A hot or cool drink to sip, a quiet fiddle toy, a creative project (like knitting or colouring), stand and stretch at the back, or use our pillows and blankets.

💻 There’s always a sermon outline on our welcome card on the website if you like prompts to help you follow along.

💖 Engage your heart and mind. Come with the attitude expecting God to speak with you. Treat the sermon as a dialogue with God as you listen. Share with friends over supper what you were thinking about, and ask them to share too.

New book rec! Slogging Along in the Paths of Righteousness: Psalms 13-24 (Dale Ralph Davis)

The Psalms are a wonderful mix of compositions that provide challenge and inspiration to readers. Their visual imagery, poetic form and confronting statements can be both familiar and strange to us. This is why it is good to have a guide like Dale Ralph Davis.

He has written four books on the Psalms, with one more on the way. The second volume covers Psalms 13-24 and, as the title suggests, helps us with “slogging along in the paths of righteousness”.

Each chapter is like a sermon that unpacks the meaning of a psalm, using helpful illustrations, insightful commentary and concrete application all without being too shallow or too technical. I highly recommend this book for those who want to go deeper in their study of the Psalms.
