Siddhanath Kaul Tradition
The Nath tradition is an unbroken and eternal lineage that has continued from the primordial guru, the God of gods, Lord Mahadev, up to the present day through the guru–disciple tradition. The original guru of the Nath tradition is Adinath himself, who since ancient times has been bestowing Shivahood (divine consciousness) upon disciples and continuously transmitting self-realization through them.
Maharshi Kapil further strengthened this guru–disciple lineage through the paths of yoga and scripture, which is why the Nath tradition is also known as the Kapilani Nath tradition. Nath practitioners are also called Siddhas because, in the Kapilani lineage, they are authoritative masters of Shakti (spiritual energy) practices.
Shiva (Adinath) is the lord of all powers; therefore, the Nath yogis are the rightful worshippers of Shakti, and the practitioners of Shakti themselves are considered Siddhas. In the Gita, the Lord says, “Among the Siddhas, I am Kapil.” Hence, from Maharshi Kapil onward, all Nath masters of the Kapilani lineage are known as Siddhanath.
Therefore, if there are true knowers of Ta**ra, they are indeed the Nath yogis. Among the Siddhas of this tradition are:
Adi Guru Matsyendranath
Guru Gorakhnath
Even today, this Siddhanath tradition continues unbroken within the human body. Bearing the responsibility of preserving this lineage, it moves forward continuously with the aim of enabling every being to realize Shivahood within this very body.
