Manningham Uniting Church was formed in mid 2011 when congregations of Doncaster East, Pilgrim Doncaster -The Grove and Templestowe Uniting churches made the decision to become one. The decision followed fourteen months of consultation between the congregations to decide the shape of their shared future. The combined members of

the four former church congregations are now engaged in working out the details of their future together and living out that future under the guidance of a new Church Council. There are many active groups within Manningham Uniting Church reflecting the variety of activities of the Congregation. SOCIAL PRAYER OUTREACH STUDY SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

The ongoing impacts of dispossession are still very real. Therefore, in the spirit of the One who speaks truth, loves justice and draws all things into communion, in recent years churches have reclaimed this day to acknowledge the effects of colonisation and to seek life-giving ways forward. Some call it the Day of Mourning, others Aboriginal Sunday. Please join us on Sunday 25th, 10am at Manningham Uniting Church (109 Wood St)

With the final week of Advent and Teatalk we ponder love.
* How has love transformed your own life?
* When have you seen love change the world?
* When have you extended yourself for the sake of love?
* Talk about someone you love.
* Have you ever changed your mind not because of rational argument, but because you realised your belief was hurting someone? When?
* What images of God do you carry that aren’t loving? Do they need to be challenged or let go of?
* How will you show love to someone today?

For the third week in Advent, we are focusing of Joy. Take a moment to slow down, then wonder:
What lights you up? Where is your joy?
When have you rejoiced in hard times? What helped?
How do you distinguish between joy and happiness?
Is joy about life’s outward circumstances, or life’s deepest orientation?
In the face of a politics that tries to make people fearful, alienated and isolated, what role might joy play?
What clouds your joy? What opens you up to it?
How might you bring joy to someone today?

Continuing with our TeaTalk... we enter week two of Advent. We encourage you to begin with a cuppa. Hold it in your hands. Inhale its fragrance. Take a sip, and savour the taste. Slow down, then wonder:
* When do you experience a sense of deep peace?
* What brought peace to a time of suffering in your life?
* What images or emotions do you associate with peace?
* What are ‘the things which make for peace’ and how might you pursue them (Romans 14:19)?
* Is peace the absence of conflict, or the presence of something positive?
* Can a military peace hold? If not, what is required for lasting peace?
* What peace-making activity could you do today?
