🐃CATTLE FACT🐃

Freemartin cows are a twin heifers that was in utero with a bull calf. This causes infertility in the heifer due the placentas fusing, creating a shared blood supply and the heifer being exposed to male hormones.

This girl was a freemartin and was left to grow out for rations. We'd half expect her to be a bit dryer under the hide at this time of year, but with the great spring we've had, she has amazing fat cover.

We'll leave her to hang in the cool room for a couple weeks, then get her divvied up into some choice cuts.🥩

Earlier weaning this year, with good tucker in the paddock for them to continue to grow. Its been a great spring.

And they are sold. The first pen of 60, 2024 drop ewes topped at $500. We went on to average $465 across the lot. Big thank you to CJ Shearing, PPHS and Sagassers Transport. Also thank you to the repeat buyers who have stuck with our sheep.

Our 2024 drop 1st Cross Ewes being load for the Naracoorte Blue Ribbon Sale tomorrow starting at 12.30pm SA time. Thanks again to Sagassers Transport for taking good care of them. Also to the PPHS team who are in charge of them tomorrow.
