Thank you everyone for your support after we posted this photo on Saturday.
One comment raised the issue of Op Shops not being open more often to take donations.
We would love to be open everyday but most shops like ours are more often than not staffed by retired/older people who are therefore much more prone to regular illness, going to medical appointments or have injuries that restrict what they can do.
Plus they understandably want to enjoy their retirement by going on “grey nomad” wanderings and overseas trips which means they are often unavailable to work, sometimes for months.
Our volunteers are long term, loyal and committed people but just can’t work longer or more shifts anymore. Younger ones we understand are involved with work and family responsibilities so don’t want to volunteer as well.
That’s why co-operation, understanding and respect for “what is now,” is so important.
So on that note….if you would like to volunteer we would love to hear from you. Come in and see us. 😊
